I'm so sick of all my shit clothes! Combination of being skint and on a permanent diet means I 've been weraing the same clothes for about 10 years!

(20 Posts)
OK so 10 years is a bit of an exaggeration but you get hte picture grin

I did get some lovely trousers from a charidee shop but they only JUST fit me when I bought them about a month ago, and the diet's gone a bit to pot since then blush

I was looking for a top to wear today and went through them thinking "shit, shit, shit!" - I'm so SICK of the crap clothes I have, I'd love to just chuck the lot and start again. Can't even do a swap with a same sized mate as all mine are shamefully worn.

When I do have a bit of cash, I don't buy clothes because I'm on a farking diet and think "oh no, don't waste your money as they won't fit soon" hmm

Next time I have some dosh, I AM going to buy some new tops. I AM grin

Good for you. I would seriolusly treat yourself more often- you will feel better for it.

I bought a cheap winter coat in New Look. It wasn't wool but it was a lovely bright blue colour and a funky style. Makes me feel happy every time I put it on! It dosn't have tocost the earth.

Well after reading this today I went to the mall, tried Primark, Next, Dotty P & New Look and they were all just really shite (Next weren't too bad), just really cheap fabrics and drab greys and beiges.

Ended up in Wallis where I got quite a few nice things in teal, purple, green & some nice long necklaces in silver etc.

Am I now officially middleaged? Felt overwhelming relief to find clothes that didn't make me look like I ws trying to look 14. wink

I mix and match between peacocks, primark, dotty p's, supermarkets, ebay, newlook, next and anywhere else that has a sale!

I feel less fat when I'm well dressed and better about myself too. However whenever I have a day off/end up off sick due to depression, I end up in DH's lovely size zillion tracky bottoms left over from when he was mahoosive. Now THEY make me feel thin!

So pleased to discover I'm not the only one dossing around in ancient size 14 trackie bottoms, rippled hoodie and odd socks, but with a full BNWT wardrobe of nice expensivesize 10 clothes. I do buy some things that fit for work - but mainly Asda stuff because I don't think I deserve really nice things when I am the size I am.

Mumblechum - must be

but think this is for those with more money than sense! ( and the belt is £95 extra!)
I am exactly the same- I have got nothing nice because it doesn't feel worth spending money to still look like an over-stuffed sausage. I just won't go anywhere this Christmas- sorted.

[depressed]-ish

So where's good at the moment for clothes?

It's my birthday on Sat and mum's sent me a cheque and hopefully my sis will as well.

Any ideas? Am a 14 top, 12 bottom. Dh has bought me some nice boots from Next for my bday - are those longish woolen skirts with embroidery still in fashion?

I know what you mean.

Have you bought off Ebay? I buy a few things ; M&s, Per Una, Autograph etc. I suppose it is not high fashion but it is cheap (99p) stuff and I have found it easier to decide what to get as I find shops a bit claustrophobic/hate trying stuff on. I find that the M&S sizing is very generous, so there is not the stress of whether it will fit or not.

Also everytime I buy something new I throw out a hated garment - one in, one out.
what you need to do is buy the clothes that fit you now!

you'll look so much better and feel so much better about yourself. BHLS is right in all she says!

plus, when you do lose the weight, you can get your clothes taken in.

(you can't do that with clothes that are too small)

grin
What BHLS said. I finally abandoned the not buying clothes 'cos I'll lose weight and they won't fit soon philosophy a few weeks ago. It had been with me for years but a few weeks ago I went out and virtually started from scratch and now feel so much better I don't know why I didn't do it ages ago. It doesn't have to cost a fortune either, I bought things that pretty much all mix and match.

Go on, do it!
I said to DH last night that I'd like a few new bits for my birthday (10 days time) - he said that it might be best not to buy each other birthday and Christmas presents this year as we need all our "spare" money as we are moving house soon.

GAh. Will try to persuade mum grin

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
