Recipe of the week

penguinmum's creamy fish pie: smoky, seasonal fish in a creamy white sauce with grated, rather than mashed, tatties on top - a meal of the highest comfort-food order.

So, Food technology...How the fuckity fuck...

(31 Posts)
...is my clumsy ds supposed to transport a raw egg to school, in a rucksack, on a very rowdy bus (where it is common for Yr 7s food tech ingredients to get stolen and chucked around) then through half a school day in one piece?
ah yes, wicker baskets....that reminds me how my friend was carrying home a family size jam tart in her wicker basket, the plate wouldn't fit in properly so it was sort of balanced on the top, inevitably it fell out on the pavement, plate smashed, jam tart intact.
lovely light pastry grin
Oh yes, the wicker basket! Mine has been revamped by my mother with a pocketed cloth lining for baby bits and bobs.

Stayingsunny envy that is inspired! Though poor food tech teacher with all that shopping!

Well, thanks for all your ingenuity, we managed to find a passably fitting top to a pot and the buns were delicious. Not everyone managed to get everything in one peice and not everyone managed to produce anything edible during the lesson either!

Still, in my day at poncey grammar school, they used to make us carry our domestic science (for that was what it was called in Ye Olden Dayes) in a whicker basket. God the shame , being on the bus next to the cool comp kids who had carrier bags from miss Selfridges...

I've got it!

Do you have a bubbles container?? Just normal kids blowing bubbles using fairy liquid....

Rinse it out, crack the egg in to it and close it up with celloptape for extra security!
suprise him and send him with a hard boiled one.. and a letter to teacher saying he can't be trusted with a raw one yet

At the dses school, we pay £12 for the year to the Food Tech department, and they provide all the ingredients - which is certainly easier for me. It also means I don't have to spend the evening before they have food tech ransacking the kitchen for the ingredients needed, and ending up in Tescos, because they didn't think to tell me they needed stuff until less than 12 hours before it's needed.
This is why I drive ds in and pick him up on Food Tech days!
grin at BCN
... he says YES! with a big snigger

Emphasis: To bold a word, surround it with asterisks, so *hello* will display hello. For underline use _ , so _hello_ gives hello. For italics use ^, so ^hello^ gives hello. To strike out a word, surround it with two hyphens either side, so --dog-- gives dog

Links and smileys: To insert a smiley face, , type [smile] or :)

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
