Very, very scared. Very excited too as I fancy the pants off this man but it's just simply terrifying when I think of it. Been single since DH ran off couple of years ago and this is the first dip of the toe in scary date land. My date is friend of a friend so I know him a little, not sure if that helps or not.

I think I might be a tad rusty so tell me your dating tips and disasters, plus a do and don't list!

The thought of starting again with someone seems too big. I had been happy just me and my sons and wasn't looking for anyone...

Been taken by suprise with this, not sure I remember how to do the couple thing anymore or even if I want too...

I would say no sex on the first date too, however stranger things have happened..

Not to me personally of course

Don't think of it as starting again, just go and have a laugh and a nice night outsmile

But if I'm not going to end up as some mad old woman living with cats and smelling slightly of wee, I need to do this. Twenty years is a looong time and I had so much more energy and no children then!

As for sex, it's been 3 years without so I reckon I can wait a couple of dates in to preserve my reputation!

Ok, no sex and no getting drunk. I would want to go dutch on whatever we do - is that normal way to go?
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By LovesTents on Wed 19-Nov-08 18:39:05
Where are you going?
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By dinkle on Wed 19-Nov-08 18:42:02
Going for a drink then a curry.

Yes I would go dutch, he may not accept your offer however, then you have to decide whether to insist, such a minefield..

How exciting!

How did you meet him?

My single-mum friend would love to meet a man, but has no time as she works long hours. It's a shame because she is lovely>

I met him through a friend. I work freelance from home and my social life consists of the school gate so it's not often I come into contact with men these days!

Ok, no sex on first date, no getting drunk, offer to go dutch...

Anything else I need to bear in mind?
