banana - don't bother pureeing just mash or hand it over for your LO to squidge in her hands

with the pear, steam and then add some liquid to mash it up with

alternaively, just offer it cut up for your lO to hold and chew on

PLEASE!! Don't puree your baby! sad

grin
You just mush them up with a blender or a fork, without the baby!

i would cook the pear in a little water till soft, drain and mash with potato masher/fork then mash banana into it

or use a blender

apples...cut into pieces, put in a pan of water, just enough water to barely cover them. put on a lid. bring to boil. simmer until very mushy!

bananas and pears...mash with a fork
(or use a baby blender/hand blender for smoother)

How old is your baby?

Don't bother with the puree, just peel em and let him have a go at chewing it! Much, much easier.

Mango was always a winner with my ds, amusing to watch him try and eat it too (it was very slippy) he ended up with his face in the bowl like a cat! grin

There's a sick joke in that question, but I will step away from it or I'll be flamed.

Apples/pears - wash, peel, chop and simmer for 5-10 minutes, then puree with some boiled water/breastmilk/formula if needed. You are going for a thin, smooth puree. You can use a hand blender.

Banana - just mash really well with some breastmilk/formula to make it almost runny.

You have to be carefull on MN as so many have no SOH, as was made apparent today.

charlotte, if DD can sit unaided, has lost her tongue thrust reflex and can pick up a piece of food, get it to her mouth, chew and swallow, you don;t need to puree or mash, you can give her steamed pieces of veg, and pieces of soft fruit.

lmao im not going to eat dd.... ds is bigger and much more meaty!!! grin

Do you think it would be ok to make it up and the freeze it? I need the convenience you see and she wont eat a whole bananna yet and it seems a waste not to use the whole thing. I wanted to send them over with dd to the childminder as she ends up having a jar otherwise.

You can freeze it. Does the childminder not cook???

Can't she just eat half a banana and then have the other half put in the fridge for later?

Seriously, finger foods are soooo much easier! Although the CM might freak, I don't know.

if she is 6 months, she can have toast fingers. rice cakes, breadsticks etc

also, don;t forget, milk is still her main source of nutrition and calories, food is still about tastes and texture not filling her up

Well technically shes not a cm just a family friend doing me a mahooosive favour for free. They got out for lunch and take the kids with them so she gives dd a jar but I would rather she had puree so I thought I could make it up, put in ice cube trays, freeze it and then pop it in a poy in the morning when i take the kids over and by lunch time it would have melted and could just be warmed through.... that was the plan anywhoo...
