Tell me if you enjoy your job.

Just that really. This is wishful thinking because I live in a rural area with very few opportunities, but I'm thinking of leaving teaching. I fancy becoming a librarian but that's unlikely what with massive cuts in the libraries budget here.

A quiet desk job also appeals. I don't want to be a performing monkey any longer.

So what do you do, and do you enjoy it?

teacher for twenty one years, bar a couple of days. didn't want to do it, didn't find it comfortable, hated the effect it had on me.

had a wonderful time teaching/learning with some of the children, met some really interesting young people/loved having books around/loved talking about important things with teenagers (taught RE).

and I loved the stationary.

Very bad time to move into librarianship & it's not a quiet job

Unless you live in London there's a dearth of professional library jobs

I'm a PA to a very wealthy (non famous banker). Love it some days, despise it others! Very dependent on the mood of the man I'm a PA for!

NGO work in conflict/post-conflict zones. Love it but wouldn't recommend it unless you have a strong stomach, good disease immunity, and don't mind a mix of fear and boredom in equal measures. Lack of imagination helps enormously.

I am a library assistant and yes I love it; but the job won't even exist in 18 months. sad

Pupil Support in a primary school - love every second.

First job I've ever had where I have loved it though.

There are lots of people nowadays who visit libraries and are not there to borrow a book. They are there because it is warm and dry, it's somewhere to sleep off a hangover or eat a takeaway and be abusive to library staff (south London). OP sorry to burst your bubble

Only1scoop Wed 03-Sep-14 20:42:43
