Best regards,

The sender is a Morris Wimbush (who seems to be a criminal according to google!!!).

The company looks legitimate and putting the company name into google plus "scam" hasn't really returned any results.

What should I do - call my bank?

Is there an attachment it wants you to open or a link to click?

Phone your credit card company and ask if a transaction has gone through.

Personally, I think it's just a scam email.

BigPawsBrown Tue 02-Sep-14 11:09:08

Yes it's a .arj file. Opened on iPhone as they seem virus proof and it's blank

Argh, glad someone else got one, same email, mine was prepschoolmag.co.uk, googled and found nothing!

SecretSpy Tue 02-Sep-14 11:16:23

Scam. No real companies send invoices/receipts as an attachment or zip file.

ihatethecold Tue 02-Sep-14 11:20:15

I've had it also. Are you on gmail?

Hollycopter Tue 02-Sep-14 11:21:11

It's an email scam. If someone cloned your card and bought stuff online they'd be unlikely to use your email address and tip you off.

Nancy66 Tue 02-Sep-14 11:22:08

it's just a scam. I'm really puzzled people still don't know this stuff - don't you all get dozens of these a week? !

OwlCapone Tue 02-Sep-14 11:24:19

don't you all get dozens of these a week? !

Only if I can be arsed to look in my junk folder. They never some through to my inbox.

BigPawsBrown Tue 02-Sep-14 11:26:05

Yes, gmail. Was surprised as never get junk as their junk mail folder is so good, and it's not poorly worded like most spam and their website is legit.

So no I don't get dozens like that a week.

Nancy66 Tue 02-Sep-14 11:26:49

I always look in my junk just because Hotmail aren't very efficient at sorting it.

I've already inherited $16million this week

KnackeredMuchly Tue 02-Sep-14 11:42:32

Scam

Sabrinnnnnnnna Tue 02-Sep-14 11:54:29

Wow, checking my junk e-mail is a revelation! shock Not only do I have a e-mail almost identical to the one in the OP, and several penis enlargement ads, but I've also got several like this:

" Hello xxx, my name is Anna. I'm 19 years old.
I have never written to men first, but decided to try. I hope I was not mistaken in you.
More about me you will find on link below

I'm waiting for you online

Well! My name is very female - so this is obviously completely random/automatically generated. Who on earth would respond to stuff like that? Very vulnerable men, I fear..? sad

Ignore it OP - and never click on the links. can you set these things to go into junk? Ignorance is bliss where these are concerned.

Also recieved one informing me they were taking £110 pounds from my credit card.Gentlmans name was Jerome Witthoff.

JamForTea Tue 02-Sep-14 18:30:43

My dh got this today at his work email. It somehow got through the large company he works for filters but their IT dept sent out an email saying it was a scam.

MooMaid Tue 02-Sep-14 18:48:12

Yup - it was received by some people at our work too. Scam!

Doubtfuldaphne Tue 02-Sep-14 18:53:48

I've had a few of these this week and it's a scam. I know that because I have no credit cards!
No company would send an attachment like that.

RichardEvans Wed 03-Sep-14 12:17:49

Sabrinnnnnnnnnnnna, Are you sure as Valerie sent me a message too, and a photograph. I've just sent her £1000 to fly over here to meet me ;)

I got a similar one from "Amazon"(!) but just deleted it.
They probably expect you to worry that your card details have been used and click on the link to cancel it and see what's it about.
Only then would you be in trouble.

WowserBowser Wed 03-Sep-14 12:25:53

I got one too!

I asked my friend who works for a credit card company and they have had loads of calls about this yesterday and today but no actual money taken.

I've had at least four of these this week. Delete delete delete.
