And more importantly do they have inset on Thursday? I am considering doing legoland.. obviously need to way up dubious parenting decison of best prep for new school year being 10 hrs in a theme park with potential queue avoidance. We have nectar vouchers we have to use by end of month.

Term starts today in Birmingham. My dc are back in on Wednesday - I know my niece is in on Tuesday.

One tomorrow and one Wednesday.

Ds goes back tomorrow Y7, dd Y10 on Wednesday. Same school but they want to give the new intake a day to themselves. We went to Legoland on an inset day it was great without the hordes and queues.

Wednesday for us( independent ) but most of the State schools here go back next week

Thanks for prompt replies, it is in encouraging - maybe we could go Weds and all sit very still on Thursday in preperation for school.

Mine go back on Thurs but a lot of schools in this area (county not city LA) don't go back till Mon/Tues (including mine hehe).

We are nowhere near Windsor tho if that makes any difference?

clary Mon 01-Sep-14 11:30:06

By Mon/Tues I mean Sept 8th/9th <gasp at lateness of back-to-school>

PinkSquash Mon 01-Sep-14 11:30:28

We go back on Friday- have inset on Thursday. I find going back for one day pointless

amyhamster Mon 01-Sep-14 11:31:32

mine are thursday we're in the SE

we are sick of the sight of each other & the park grin

Lumineer Mon 01-Sep-14 11:31:57

If they are only doing one day this week, it's not the end of the world for them to have had a big day out. They can sleep in at weekend.

Yes I think I agree with you both Lumineer and Pink Squash, surely they won't do anything meaningful on Friday. Have googled Windsor and Maidenhead dates - they mostly seem to be back Weds.

Both on Wednesday...

Ours go back Thursday (Norfolk) which is handy as we are getting married Wednesday morning so can enjoy the first day of married life in peace and quiet grin

Maxthecat Mon 01-Sep-14 12:13:53

Mine go back next week, hoping to enjoy some quieter days out as moat seem to go back next week smile

5madthings Mon 01-Sep-14 12:16:22

Mine go back Thu, also Norfolk. Why they can't just go back at the beginning of next week so we can have a few more days holiday I don't know.

My teacher friends have gone back today, so these days are inset days?

BornToFolk Mon 01-Sep-14 12:17:16

I'm localish (different LA) to Windsor and DS (Primary) goes back on Monday 8th. Term officially starts this Weds but Thurs and Fri are inset days

Purpleflamingos Mon 01-Sep-14 12:19:52

Wednesday for ds who will be in yr1. Monday for dd who starts nursery.
Monday for me.

screamingeels Mon 01-Sep-14 12:37:23

Congratulations Portly! And boo to borntofolks LA, although as others have said it does look like the more sensible option.

AnnOnymity Mon 01-Sep-14 12:38:54

Been back a week already.

My nieces (Essex) don't go back until the 8th.

MummyPig24 Mon 01-Sep-14 12:43:25

Ds1 goes back on Wednesday and dd goes back on Thursday for two half days then full time starts Monday.
