Today is Tuesday 19th. How would you refer to Saturday 23rd, Saturday 30th and Saturday 6th? We are having a debate about this at home and I need some back up other perspectives! Thanks all! x

Prawnskewer Tue 19-Aug-14 21:52:00

This Saturday; next Saturday and the Saturday after.

23rd is this Saturday
30th is next Saturday
And the one after that would be 2 weeks this Saturday.

Bragadocia Tue 19-Aug-14 21:53:57

23rd: this Saturday or Saturday coming
30th: not this Saturday but the Saturday after
6th: Saturday two weekends from now. Then I'd have to confirm that we were both talking about the same one!

ouryve Tue 19-Aug-14 21:54:46

Saturday coming, Saturday week and first Saturday in September smile

The day we're going to Granny's
The day we're coming back from Granny's
DS's birthday

Hmm, I would be confused about it. I'm a northerner who lives down south and I think there's a divide on this. It caused me lots of confusion when I first moved down here but I've now been down south the same length of time as up north so I'm just generally confused!

I would call sat 23rd this saturday, sat 30th next saturday. But I think in general down here people would say that sat 16th was this saturday and sat 23rd is next saturday (as it is, logically, the next saturday).

CremeEggThief Tue 19-Aug-14 22:23:44

23rd is this Saturday or Saturday coming. 29th is next Saturday. 6th is Saturday fortnight.

cakesonatrain Tue 19-Aug-14 22:48:14

This Saturday
Next Saturday
Saturday after next (said with explanatory hand gesture)

DH will often say "next Saturday" for the upcoming Saturday, which it technically is, isn't it, the next Saturday.

Munchmallow Tue 19-Aug-14 23:04:54

That's what's so confusing cakesonatrain, this Saturday coming is the next Saturday.

Oh, not heard of 'Saturday fortnight' before.

OhIDoLikeToBeBeside Tue 19-Aug-14 23:07:30

Same as seagull. Now make use of "what I call" in the style of Miranda's mother.

HauntedNoddyCar Tue 19-Aug-14 23:07:46

Saturday after next or a fortnight Saturday

Coumarin Tue 19-Aug-14 23:08:39

Luckytwo Tue 19-Aug-14 23:08:55

I would say this Saturday, next Saturday and the Saturday after next.

There will be some who say Saturday week and I won't have a clue which of these Saturdays they mean smile

FunkyBoldRibena Tue 19-Aug-14 23:10:40

I also argue about this, as a southerner it is
This Saturday
Next Saturday
The Saturday after next

For my northerner OH. They are
Saturday - can be either this or next and he mixes himself up when I start trying to work out which one he means.
Next Saturday
The Saturday after next

Argh.

Januaryjojo1 Tue 19-Aug-14 23:11:48

Um....
This,
Next, and in a fortnight..

Dunno....but the word Saturday is starting to look really weird and wrong.....but it's not.......confused

HauntedNoddyCar Tue 19-Aug-14 23:14:46

DH is grumpy now. I asked him and he was sure Sat 23rd was next Saturday. Waited 2 mins and asked him when we go on holiday. This Saturday. smile
