Poutine.

Apparently it's chips with gravy and cottage cheese, or some other disgusting concoction.

Sounded like a disrespectful term for sex/women.

"I'm gonna get me some poutine"

hazeyjane Mon 18-Aug-14 21:11:01

were you getting it mixed up with poutain, which is a disrespectful term for women?

iklboo Mon 18-Aug-14 21:13:21

Putain is the unpleasant word you were probably hearing
whore in French

Plonker is a Very Bad Word in this house. The kids won't use it at all.

It's a pity; I like it.

cottage cheese is bleurgh.

TenMinutesEarly Mon 18-Aug-14 21:35:59

Plonker is an old fashioned word for a condom isn't it.

I once got told off by a policeman because I called his son a plonker. He was and still is a plonker.

EatShitDerek Mon 18-Aug-14 21:37:24

My dad was calling me a condom?!

Trills Mon 18-Aug-14 21:39:43

There's clearly plenty of bad words that I could have been getting!

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig Mon 18-Aug-14 21:39:52

I once told someone I was sodden wet and he thought I said sodding. There is such a word as sodden isn't there?

dexter73 Mon 18-Aug-14 21:40:57

My dh is convinced that twat isn't rude and is just an alternative word for a silly person. He will not believe me when I tell him it is quite rude!

2kidsintow Mon 18-Aug-14 21:43:21

Fairy... I'm with you on that one. Hate that word.

Ms - yes, sodden is a word.

JuanPotatoTwo Mon 18-Aug-14 21:48:19

I got told off so badly for telling my dm's friend to "get knotted" that, for years afterwards, I thought I'd said something unspeakable.

Maryz Mon 18-Aug-14 21:57:44

plonker was, apparently, another word for penis.

It was normalised by Derek Trotter.
