... So when you're stealthy trying to look whilst DC won't go to sleep it doesn't beam across the room in bright white!!

Genius idea. Although I mumsnet on a kindle or ipad and just set the brightness setting to minimum which works too

missknows Sun 17-Aug-14 21:56:57

You are so right. I spend my night feeds reading mumsnet and even with the brightness on the lowest setting it still wakes me up too much!

Yes! Yes! Brilliant!

Hear hear!

On holiday with 8yo.. when the house is full and I don't feel like being sociable!

Fab idea!

I love this idea!!! I'm going to report your thread and see what MNHQ think.

I am on here when I have insomnia but the brightness, even when my phone is set low bugs DP.

I'm in an iPhone. Pressing the home button shrinks the screen down and brings it back again. confused

*on ha ha.

ElephantsNeverForgive Sun 17-Aug-14 22:17:25

brilliant idea. My ipod reverses books for reading at night.

LegArmpits Sun 17-Aug-14 22:19:14

I suggested this about three years ago! sadface

Anyway, the iPhone/ipad thing does work.
Go to Settings - General - Accessibility Settings, then change that to Invert Colours.

Press the home button three times quickly and for Mumsnet at least, you'll have white text on black.

FunkyBoldRibena Sun 17-Aug-14 22:20:34

Try flux, it turns your screen brightness down at sunset and back up again the next day.

HoldenMcGroin Sun 17-Aug-14 22:21:03

Oh good idea

Can one invert colours on an android phone? Orf to google...

NormHonal Sun 17-Aug-14 22:23:48

Yes! The number of times my DC1 has started reading over my shoulder as I sit on her bedroom floor...

CheesyBadger Sun 17-Aug-14 22:29:29

Oh yes, that would be fab! eBay has one too

Chasingsquirrels Sun 17-Aug-14 22:29:30

I've just done the inverted colours thing on iPad. MN looks like its on acid!

LondonLees Sun 17-Aug-14 22:29:43

Wow that's clever - just done that on my iPhone. Great tip thanks.

Fairyfellowsmasterstroke Sun 17-Aug-14 22:30:33

I actually use the "Incognito Mode" in windows 8 to hide my internet history and obviously the amount of time that I spend on MN from OH!!!

wink wink wink

Ha ha! Very trippy shock

I was just expecting black and white not green, orange and blue! Still, already my eyes feel better smile

Opened this thread to suggest flux, but funky has already got there.
