My DD2 is 11 and starting to get really interested in music. Which I am very happy about.

She has asked me to make a lost of 100 songs that she should know that would give her an in to some artists she may not know about that he can explore

When I say "songs" I am imagining modern pop / rock kinda stuff but you may have other ideas

I was going tos start with Elvis...

What would be on your list?

Losing my religion - REM

MaidOfStars Mon 21-Jul-14 14:25:12

And I'd go earlier than Elvis. Someone like Robert Johnson...Led Zep, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton all credit him as the founding father of blues/rock/what they do.

BitOutOfPractice Mon 21-Jul-14 14:32:43

BitOutOfPractice Mon 21-Jul-14 14:33:16

And I'll look up Robert Johnson too grin

BitOutOfPractice Mon 21-Jul-14 14:35:09

I agree with many of the artists Just but maybe not the songs

And coldplay will not be on my list. They make me stabby - and I don't think they are original or important enough musically to make it anyway

Ok - here's a question. What about people that aren't cool now but were important. Nobody has mentioned Elton John for example

And what about electronic music - kraftwerk, Human League etc
