He came out with one of my favourite telly lines ever when he was playing the Grandad in 8 Simple Rules.

Just checked - his real name was Bumgarner. Can see why he changed that. And he was married to the same woman since 1956

Aw, RIP. My dad loved the Rockford Files so James Garner is one of my big childhood memories. Talented actor, tons of charisma, and always seemed like a nice bloke.

I preferred him in the Maverick TV series, I used to watch them with my dad. Maverick didn't come here to lose. RIP
