are we ever going to find out who they are?

i dont understand

hiddenhome Mon 07-Jul-14 23:44:58

Some of them we already know about, like Cyril Smith. The others are probably frantically running around trying to keep everything from coming out.

loombands Mon 07-Jul-14 23:47:14

and Peter Righton...
(was he an MP?)

hiddenhome Mon 07-Jul-14 23:48:42

He was an advisor to Social Services. High up. Don't know his exact title.

loombands Mon 07-Jul-14 23:50:22

its terrifying

hiddenhome Mon 07-Jul-14 23:54:35

Everyone's at it. I was assaulted by a paediatrician at the age of 13. Fucking perverts.

xpatmama Tue 08-Jul-14 00:42:24

The alleged mp's names are on the internet - Google elm tree guest house (definitely triggering)

xpatmama Tue 08-Jul-14 00:42:53

Or at least some of them...

SittingNextToSanta Tue 08-Jul-14 00:55:08

Be careful what you say as one MP has threatened to sue already, I am not saying he is one of them by the way.

I agree with hiddenhome, perverts all over the place in positions of power, you don't know who to trust.

CaoNiMa Tue 08-Jul-14 06:02:56

Slightly uncomfortable with the flippant thread title. It's hardly a lighthearted issue.

loombands Tue 08-Jul-14 06:23:09

I'm really sorry hiddenhome
i was felt up by the family dr at age 16...too subtle for me to understand at the time

threatened to sue? Jesus H Christ!...excellent reaction

CFSKate Tue 08-Jul-14 06:28:14

Tom Watson MP petition for full inquiry needs all the signatures it can get - www.change.org/ukabuseinquiry he says "Having talked to a number of survivors and retired child protection specialists I know one thing: if this new inquiry is not given the power to obtain all documents it wants to see, then it won't get anywhere. We need to make sure the inquiry has all the powers it needs. We need to keep up the pressure."

Exaro news seem to be a driving force

Ffs expatmama shock...i had no idea about that. Was that common knowledge in 2012/2013??

BettyBolognese Tue 08-Jul-14 06:36:20

The tone of your thread title is very strange for the seriousness of the thread.

FidelineAndBombazine Tue 08-Jul-14 06:37:47

It was Peter Bottomley who threatened to sue. There are lots of reasons people threaten to sue for libel, many of them connected with not wanting to be libelled. I think it is safe to name him isn't it?

stolemyusername Tue 08-Jul-14 07:01:27

Your thread title is the most disgustingly flippant pile of sanctimonious crap I have ever read on mumsnet since I joined.

Would you like me to tell you my story so that you can give me a head tilt and pat me on the shoulder, perhaps you could even tell me my skirt was too short or I was asking for it at the same time.

Just fucking nasty.

Psypher Tue 08-Jul-14 07:29:34

Oh for heavens sake. Can we get over the thread title? I'm sure offence wasn't intended and to tell her she's 'just fucking nasty' is an overreaction, to say the least.

FidelineAndBombazine Tue 08-Jul-14 07:38:30

Comedy cockney 'voice' for paedophile MP scandal thread title is a trifle strange, to be fair.

ICanHearYou Tue 08-Jul-14 07:42:50

teeny-weeny over exaggeration there perhaps? If the above is true, you obviously haven't been here for long...

I would say the flippancy of the OP sort of reflects the flippancy of the whole bloody thing until very recently.

ICanHearYou Tue 08-Jul-14 07:44:10

Men in positions of power openly going to gay guest houses and dressing little boys up like fairys so they can abuse them is a little bit 'strange' too though isn't it.

Shouldn't we be focussing on how strange that is, rather than jumping on the OP for her 'now then now then' esq posting style?

confused

You're right. Most appropriate thing by far is to discuss the above in silly music hall accents <chastened>

stolemyusername Tue 08-Jul-14 07:51:57

No Icanhearyou in this instance I'm not exaggerating, I find the tone of the title very insulting to what I and other have been through.

If the style of the title was the same, but the topic bereavement would you still find it acceptable?

Surely the question should be when are they going to be exposed and brought to justice rather than when are we going to find out who they are? It's not entertainment.

ICanHearYou Tue 08-Jul-14 07:55:15

I am not about to sit and compare the abuse of one child with the death of another.

It was FLIPPANT, it was obviously not meant to cause offence. If people are honestly more offended by the flippancy of the posting style than they are the bloody serious issue going on in our so called 'democracy' then they need to check themselves.

FidelineAndBombazine Tue 08-Jul-14 08:02:20

Who said they were MORE offended Ican?

Your logic is flawed in any case. The fact that 'serious issues' are occuring doesn't somehow excuse flippancy around sensitive subjects.
