Already have 2 going to get 3 more small ones
Owl on ankle
Turtle on arm
Flower on wrist

Namechangearoonie123 Mon 07-Jul-14 14:12:32

Don't they take ages?

blueskiesandflowers Mon 07-Jul-14 15:00:37

They are only small ones other two took 30 mins

MrsLettuce Mon 07-Jul-14 15:09:37

Ah, go big or go home!

But, yeah, in all seriousness, bigger pieces will age much much better than wee doodles.

I'm thinking of having one for my birthday, on the top of my arm or shoulder. It's not very big, moon and stars.

Any idea roughly how much it will cost and which area is best, arm or shoulder? I want to be able to see it, but have to be able to hide it at work.

Usually you're looking at £75 an hour for a good tattoo and a guide to a good artist is a long waiting list and one who gives you a hmm face if you want a single star grin

blueskiesandflowers Mon 07-Jul-14 15:41:10

Mine are an inch cost £10 each

blueskiesandflowers Mon 07-Jul-14 15:41:58

I don't fancy a big tattoo plus they cost £45 each

blueskiesandflowers Mon 07-Jul-14 15:42:14

I would say at top of arm

kazzawazzawoo Mon 07-Jul-14 16:31:57

Thanks. I know a few people who have been there and speak highly of him and go back again and again, so I am happy to go there.

MrsLettuce Mon 07-Jul-14 17:26:39

A 'big' tattoo for £45 hey, that's really rather cheap! does the shop have a website / instagram?

Most places that are worth their salt tend to charge per hour / have a shop minimum for pieces that'll take less an hour. Will he draw something up for you or are you having flash?

Morethanalittlebitconfused Mon 07-Jul-14 17:31:37

You're paying £45 per tattoo for a small sketch of 3 random things that you've not put much thought into and are asking about colours on another thread?

Please please please put more thought into it and plan them properly. These will be permanently marked onto you. Pay someone to do them properly

WalkWithTheLonelyOnes Mon 07-Jul-14 17:46:21

I personally would avoid an "artist" who charges £45. Tattoos are cheaper where I'm from and the cheapest place charges £70 an hour. DP had a large b+w piece on his arm with a tiny amount of colour and it cost over £250

MrsLettuce Mon 07-Jul-14 18:20:01

Yeah that sounds more like it, WalkWithTheLonelyOnes. A tattoo for a tenner sounds like a recipe for disaster TBH.

BellaVita Mon 07-Jul-14 18:25:03

Where I live, it is around £60 per hour.

One of the guys at the place where DH went has a waiting list of nearly a year.

blueskiesandflowers Mon 07-Jul-14 18:52:38

I am not having 3 random things they are all things I luv who said they were random things
I already have two tattoos which I also put a lot of thought into
Only asking about colours as other tattoos are black
Very helpful

blueskies Does he work out of a studio?

blueskiesandflowers Mon 07-Jul-14 19:15:38

Yes I am not dim
He is in a studio
He is a great tattooist, artwork is outstanding
lots of my friends go there

TheFillyjonk Mon 07-Jul-14 19:16:06

blueskies You know if you have these tattoos, you will not be able to expose them to the sun for a month? So having them during the summer may not be the greatest of ideas unless you're happy to keep them covered.

MrsLettuce Mon 07-Jul-14 19:57:41

A month really is the absolute minimum that they need to be kept cover for, yes. Also no swimming for two weeks after the work is done.

I take a summer break even though I'd rather not.

TheFillyjonk Mon 07-Jul-14 20:18:37

Yes, MrsLetttuce - I've given the huge piece on my ribs, shoulder blade and hip 3 months out of the sun and I'm still super-careful about sun exposure!

I really want to get mine finished and extend it a little down my thigh, but it makes sense to wait until summer is over. The urge to ink is very strong though!

blueskiesandflowers Mon 07-Jul-14 20:31:55

I read that you put suncream on them

blueskiesandflowers Mon 07-Jul-14 20:34:25

Other mums at school have tattoos then wearing shorts

MrsLettuce Mon 07-Jul-14 20:39:16

I'd love to see some of his work smile
