7/7/14 - 2 years since Aillidh died

(109 Posts)

Thinking of my friend expat and family who are away in the US just now with family.

In case you are new to MN then Aillidh was a MNers dd who died from complications from a bone marrow transplant for acute myeloid leukaemia 2 years ago. She is very much missed.

Can I ask if you are not already on the bone marrow register to consider joining? www.anthonynolan.org/

Oh my! two whole years already?
Hopefully the precious memories bring comfort rather than pain now for Expat and the family, and you too giraffes - you were a tower of strength for them too.

I was telling my two daughters about Aillidh only today. Call me maybe came in the radio and I said it reminded me of a little girl who died.

My 7 yr old wanted to know if she was smiley like Stephen Sutton who died recently and is local to us.

My 9 yr old was more thoughtful,

Hoping Expat and her family have a lovely holiday. Gone but not forgotten x

I had no idea that's who expats daughter was. I've seen references to her daughter but had never made the connection.

I followed her brave battle for weeks at the time. Can't believe it's been 2 years

thinking of her family x

expat I remember that night like it was yesterday.

I hope you're all getting some comfort being with your family.

I think of Ailidh often Expat, I have a dd of a similar age. I remember sobbing in my back garden when Ailidh died thinking 'there but for the grace of god go I'

I'm so sorry, I hope it becomes more bareable as time passes

Giraffes you are an amazing friend

hedwig2001 Mon 07-Jul-14 02:15:01

I think of her every time I hear Call me maybe. expat I hope being with your family brings a little comfort at such a difficult anniversary.

I've read your posts expat and your love for your daughter comes shining through - I think of you even though we don't know each other.

I have a medical condition that means I am unable to register, but hope that people read this and join.

I'm sadly not able to register but I will continue to encourage others to. Thinking of you Giraffes and of course Expat and family. I think of Aillidh often and will light a candle for her tonight.

I joined because of Aillidh. Can't believe it's 2 years already sad

Thinking about you x

I joined the bone marrow register because of Aillidh (and convinced DH to join too).
Thinking of you x

I can't imagine the feelings of grief and loss. Two years must feel like nothing and forever. You all are in my thoughts..
