How to report obscene shop display? Google no help

As in thread title. Am disgusted with items that I saw in a shop today, basically soft porn on t-shirts and in shop window, enormous naked breasts and bottoms. Does anyone know where to report this to? Thanks in advance.

was it a copy of the sun in the newsagents window?

BikeRunSki Sun 15-Jun-14 20:31:08

Trading standards?
Parish council?

Yuck, I hate these soft porn T-shirts. Last weekend, I saw an idiot wearing one as he led his tweenie daughter around town. Great for her to be confronted with that every time she looks at him.
In the city I live in, there's a "city centre manager" - not sure what his job title is exactly - I'd complain to him. What sort of area are you in? Big city? How about your local councillors?

AnyoneForTennis Sun 15-Jun-14 20:59:16

Which shop?

Morethanalittlebitconfused Sun 15-Jun-14 21:02:46

Manager of the shopping centre and chief execs of the shop itself

you can read the op again if you like PirateJones, it's still there.
Trading standards, am not sure that's the right place.
Don't know what you mean by Parish council, there are several parishes in my area, not certain they'd be interested.

I'd say this was the worst example of the shirts they are currently selling:

Not to my taste and objectifying women as per usual... but not really porn. Just bottoms and boobs. Nout to report imho.

Complain to the shop manager directly first and see where you get to.

Speak to the store manager.
Failing that, e-mail their head office

snice Sun 15-Jun-14 22:49:47

i think the test is something like 'offends public decency' in order to report something like that to the police-sorry OP but although you don't like it thats surely nowhere near that level of offence

KarlWrenbury Sun 15-Jun-14 22:50:05

i would have said that its a non urgent police matter, probably.
Once you have asked the shop to change it
was a big local hoo ha about a sex shop near us, that got to local paper. I bet there is some kind of obscenity law or summat

Well if that's the worst example it's hardly what you said in your op, I see no naked breasts or bottoms on that t shirt.

magpiegin Sun 15-Jun-14 23:00:22

That is not porn at all. I wouldn't want to wear it but I can't see her naked boobs or bum.

magpiegin Sun 15-Jun-14 23:01:54

Please do not waste police time with this. They have much better things to do with their resources!!

Redglitter Sun 15-Jun-14 23:02:10

There's no way the police will get involved with that.

milkysmum Sun 15-Jun-14 23:04:12

Not to my taste but I'm nit offended by it!

milkysmum Sun 15-Jun-14 23:05:04

* not

milkysmum Sun 15-Jun-14 23:06:17

Oh and please don't waste police time ringing them about this!

ijustwanttobeme Sun 15-Jun-14 23:06:50

I wonder who decides on these items.

DP was in Debenhams a few years ago and saw a tshirt which had a picture of a woman outside a western style bar. Tag was liquor round the front then poker in the rear ....

It's gross but not worth reporting imo

My local Ann Summers (based inside a shopping centre hmm ) was forced to censor its window display, to remove the word "orgasm".

I'm not keen on those t-shirts, but I don't think it's at the level where anyone can really do anything - the shop will have been given them to sell by head office, and head office will, it being a menswear shop, got the idea for them from goodness knows where...

KarlWrenbury Sun 15-Jun-14 23:13:18

oh they do, you know. The Police.
