I had a nasty infected insect bite. The infection is subsiding and the swelling has gone down but the original bite hole now looks like a spot with a head. Do I squeeze or not ?
I have a photo will try to upload.

Ooh mine had the red ring round it but it has gone right down now.
I had visions of amputations when it was really swollen.

I wouldn't!

I wouldn't, do you have aloe vera?

SolomanDaisy Sun 15-Jun-14 12:40:49

umm, no. Common sense suggests it is not wise to squeeze infected bites.

familygermsareok Sun 15-Jun-14 13:06:38

No, you could make infection worse. Leave it alone, if it is already improving it will heal by itself in a few days.
Understand the temptation though, I love squeezing things and nearly always end up making them much worse!

I love squeezing spots but I would leave a bite well alone, I must admit. You don't know what venom you might be pushing further into yourself.

No no no!

PetyrBaelishsConscience Sun 15-Jun-14 13:29:32

No, no, and thrice, no. Take yourself off to the GP immediately for antibiotics!!

squeezeornot Sun 15-Jun-14 17:06:27

I went to the gp and just got some fucibet cream and it is looking a lot lot better.
It is so so tempting to give it a little squeeze though

MammaTJ Sun 15-Jun-14 18:55:41

No, you will more likely force the nastiness further in to your system if you do.

velmadinkly Sun 15-Jun-14 19:14:56

I had one like that last year. I didn't squeeze it, but I did take the top off so that I could get a bit of satisfaction, and theoretically it allowed it to drain a bit well thats what I told myself

The head bit is getting Geiger but it is very painful when I had a prod so I will leave it. I am an avid squeezer usually but the pain is too much.

squeezeornot Sun 15-Jun-14 21:54:59

Bigger not Geiger obviously

missknows Sun 15-Jun-14 21:58:01

I'm not sure I would be able to resist. Go on squeeze it :-)

RoganJosh Sun 15-Jun-14 22:01:00

I would tear the top off and see what happened.

starfishmummy Sun 15-Jun-14 22:06:55

I would stick a sterilized needle in it so that it could drain.

deakymom Sun 15-Jun-14 23:14:26

pop it don't squeeze it
