I think I will have to delegate Kevin Bacon on the rollercoaster to my #2 favourite advert...

Thanks for this ... the memories!!!

WilliamShatner Sun 15-Jun-14 10:50:50

That is brilliant. I love David Soul, he is magnificent and always had a great sense of humour and ability to laugh at himself.

Whoever thought that ad up, is fab. I'd love to see more ads like that.

I know Far I was very young but I remember the song vividly. I am sure he had some other hits too?

Such a handsome man.

As well as Hutch, I loved his performance in magnum Force alongside Clint Eastwood.

Hope the ad brings his songs back on mainstream radio.

I dont suppose his wife was laughing during his assaults on her, especially when she was pregnant William sad

Sparklingbrook Sun 15-Jun-14 10:57:58

Thanks for that Kia.

EyelinerQueen Sun 15-Jun-14 10:59:13

So they've just rehashed the scene he did in Filth? confused.

Sparklingbrook Sun 15-Jun-14 11:01:25

Don't ask me Eye. Never heard of Filth. I was harking back to the mid seventies and enjoying a memory or two with a tune.

WilliamShatner Sun 15-Jun-14 11:02:45

I found this fab video montage with one of his lovely songs as thr backtrack.

A must see for all fans of David, like me.

Sparklingbrook Sun 15-Jun-14 11:40:08

I have had a look at his Wiki page. I didn't realise he became an alcoholic.

WilliamShatner Sun 15-Jun-14 12:18:24

Davis Soul addressed his anger and personal problem and has apologised and expressed his deep regret at his behaviour, many times both publicly and privately.

He has been in prison for his actions.

He has sort out treatment and has given talks in prisons about domestic violence in the hope that by him admitting to it, he can help others seek help.

He is no saint, but he is human and whilst his personal life may have been tainted many times, his songs and acting have brought pleasure to his millions of fans.

Thanks William, I didn't know about any of that, he's just a memory of my childhood in the 70s still. smile

Fab advert. I loved him singing 'black bean soup' too. Happy times!!

Oldraver Sun 15-Jun-14 13:26:26

Vile little man.

But hey he had some nice songs so that makes everything alright

Any company that uses people like this get a hmm

Sparklingbrook Sun 15-Jun-14 13:50:18

No Old. I started this thread remembering a song that he sang when I was about 6 because it appeared on a tv advert today.

My 6 year old self was not aware of what he would be doing later on in his life. hmm

Sparklingbrook Sun 15-Jun-14 13:51:27

If anyone is offended then they can boycott National Express presumably.

Fullpleatherjacket Sun 15-Jun-14 14:02:37

Well, I can't say I knew he had form for DV but a quick google shows it's quite well documented.

Surprised no-one researched him before giving him the gig.

Last time I start a thread about a celebrity.
