Got a text from DS2 earlier............. .. "I've been very brave............... !"

(54 Posts)

Just leaving work at school at lunchtime and my son's Muppets ringtone went off in my pocket. Text message started :-
"I've been very brave.........."
My heart leapt...............
It went on "I've been to medical centre!"
My heart leapt further............
It concluded " I had slpiter taken out of my finger!!!"
My heart went back to where it should be! grin
I have now taught him the correct spelling for "splinter!!!" wink

Hilarious! How old is he?

FruVikingessOla Fri 06-Jun-14 17:01:29

Aww! I'll bet you were a tad worried.

But splinters aren't great - however old you are!

He is 18 next month but has learning disabilities!

I don't think children really get how texts 'sound'.

I looked at my phone when I came out of a meeting this morning. I had 3 missed calls from DD and a text saying, 'phone me! ASAP!!!'

After much panic, I called her and she answered in a bright, breezy, excited voice and said, 'you'll never guess what?....' It was lovely news, but really? I thought something awful had happened. A simple, 'can you ring me? x' would have done!

ThreeLannistersOneTargaryen Fri 06-Jun-14 18:38:15

How long between text two and text three? I would have been having kittens.

Imsuchamess Fri 06-Jun-14 18:39:26

That's brilliant!

glenthebattleostrich Yes it is!
It was all one text but my phone was on a go slow so scrolling down took some time!!!

Nocomet Fri 06-Jun-14 18:45:03

Oh, Lottie that's sweet.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who corrects spellings after ensuring there's no panic. Dyslexic DD plus autocorrect can lead to very odd messages.

My dh was sent me a joke which began - 'I was hit by a truck today' - on my phone only the first line flashes up...... Daft git

Nocomet He always says to me "I can't spell the "S" word" or whichever letter the word starts with and asks me to tell him how to spell it!! smile

On the predictive text/autocorrect I once told my (lovely) MIL that I was coming to 'euthanasia' her.

And in another that I was coming to ignite her.
