Is it something to do with potatoes and cabbage? I just nod sagely whenever anyone mentions it.

Would anyone like to enlighten me, or to admit similar gaps in their knowledge?

Yorkshire pudding mix with sausages baked in them.

honeybeeridiculous Wed 19-Feb-14 19:33:46

It's like a big Yorkshire pud with sausages in it grin

DustyBaubles Wed 19-Feb-14 19:34:02

Google is your friend grin

It's sausages in Yorkshire pudding.

I keep forgetting what rollmops are, but I think that's a form of self preservation.

Samu2 Wed 19-Feb-14 19:34:08

Why wouldn't you just google it? hmm

It's sausages in yorkshire pudding batter.

NymodigFruOla Wed 19-Feb-14 19:34:18

It's a dish made from batter (the hole) and sausages (the toad)!

'Tis lovely grin

I don't know what one of my best mates does for a living.
She has told me. I just don't get it confused
If asked, I say 'business'

Seriously?

Catsmamma Wed 19-Feb-14 19:34:53

it's delicious rib sticking arse enlarging artery clogging food of the gods

sausages in batter. Like a Yorkshire pudding batter, not a battered sausage.

MrsPnut Wed 19-Feb-14 19:35:43

I'm going to make toad in the hole for dinner tomorrow night.

NymodigFruOla Wed 19-Feb-14 19:36:03

Ah, forgot to mention it's Yorkshire pudding batter blush

Rollmops <bleurgh>, not my cup of tea at all!

Taffeta Wed 19-Feb-14 19:36:37

I wouldn't fancy googling it, never know what it might come up with.

OuterFromOutersville Wed 19-Feb-14 19:37:54

Yes, seriously grin. And MN is better than Google, that's why.

I didn't fancy my vague potato/cabbage version of toad in the hole, but the actual Yorkshire pudding/sausage version sounds lovely!

NymodigFruOla Wed 19-Feb-14 19:38:17

Ta dah!

Problem is that his occupation needs to go on our marriage certificate (getting wed next month).
I'm too embarrassed to ask Jim (I'm 45 ffs) so should I guess?

whattoWHO Wed 19-Feb-14 19:40:15

SecretNutellaFix Wed 19-Feb-14 19:40:35

What is your version of it then outer? You mentioned potato and cabbage- Isn't that bubble and squeak or colcannon?

NymodigFruOla Wed 19-Feb-14 19:40:55

Isn't potato/cabbage called Colcannon? Equally delicious!

OuterFromOutersville Wed 19-Feb-14 19:41:24
