Hello!

My two oldest (6 and 4) collect ticks throughout the week for good behaviour which are then turned into ipad minutes on Sunday morning whilst I lie in bed.

Only problem is that I can't find any half decent free games for them.

Please help before my cunning technique stops working!

flappy bird??

farm heros saga, temple run, candy crush, fruit ninja

i've also heard of jelly crush or something but never played it

we have also had some success with fitness/ calorie apps . They like scanning the barcodes (you can also get just a plain barcode scanner as well ) of food, or trying to beat each other's times on running/ stopwatch apps round the garden.

No to flappy bird unless you want to wind them up to a state of apoplectic fury that they can't get more than 5 points or maybe that is just me

Candy Crush, Fruit Ninja, Angry Birds etc.

What about dress up games? Or colouring games? Or story telling Apps.

I just type "Free kids apps" in the search bar!

Talking Ted is lovely

Tocaboca do good apps. I think the car one is app of the week and free ATM.

Bug squasher
Talking tom
Subway surf

If you download apps gone free they update at 5pm every day all apps that have gone free that day. There is usually some good kids ones on there.

Hair salon if they are girls.
Pirate treasure hunt
Angry birds
Collins (the publisher) do some free interactive books
World of goo

You might have to pay a couple of quid for the good ones but its worth it as they'll get played over and over

Thanks - I've just downloaded all of the above!

Good idea with the running / stopwatch ones.

Ipad time works brilliantly I'm our house for now.

My five year old like cooking games and the ones stories with games in. I have been downloading the free tabtale apps. They have pizza making, ice cream making where you decorate etc. There are hundreds of them. Hope I got the name right.

My DS is 5 and he is obsessed with his smurfs village on the iPad. Just make sure you turn off the in app purchases so they can't but smurfberries with real money.

Minion rush is like temple run.
Loads of angry birds, including the racing one.
Bubble witch.
Fingerpainting.

thegreylady Sun 09-Feb-14 08:20:15

Just remembered Ice Age Village is popular.

SundaySimmons Sun 09-Feb-14 08:25:28

100% hidden objects.

My daughter and I play chess and ludo. Chess might be a bit too old for them but the ludo one isn't.

We have got a monsters university one where you have to catch Archie the scare pig, ds loves that. Also dragon shapes, the snowman, barbie closet, Disney pets one. I don't get any apps you have to pay for.
