I'm trying to broaden my horizons and would like to look at different artists, especially new or unusual ones. So please list your top ones so I can have fun googling!

This is the website of an artist I love:

Nick Holly

He paints in a naive style, and a lot of his work is of the area I grew up in. But he also does London scenes and New York too. I am a huge fan.

Not a classic (or dead!) painter like previous posters have mentioned, but I love his work.

Van Gogh
Michael Andrews
Richard Long
Mantanagna (not Mantegna - less known but did the best pieta I've ever seen)
Cornelia Parker
Jenny Holzer

If I could only have three it would be Hiroshige, van Gogh and Michael Andrews.

Sure, Tired here's the link
The Chihuly stuff is on my 'glass' board.

Going to check out names I don't know on here and see if anything else grabs me!

HappyasEyeAm, just checked out your Nick Holly link; his stuff is great, like a modern day Alfred Wallace, whom I really admire.

David Hockney
Egon Shielle
Winslow Homer (his water colour seascapes)
Just "discovered" Jon Han, check out his "Sunday Swim".
Betty Dodson's erotic art is beautiful too.

Pre raphaelites

Turner is my favourite but I also love Paul Henry and Jack Yeats. Harry Clarke is brilliant if you like stained glass.

Arthur rackham
Alma Tadema

Also, Google Book Art. There are some amazing artists using old books to create sculptures and cut outs. Really inventive and stunning.

TunipTheUnconquerable Thu 23-Jan-14 16:08:55

Joseph Wright of Derby
Atkinson Grimshaw

Sorry, nobody modern in that list!
