My very favourite is Joan Miro.

My dd1 is very into art - her current favourite is Oliver Jeffers. He's known mostly as a children's author/illustrator (How To Catch A Star, Lost And Found etc) but his art is fabulous (and because my mil knowers his Dad well I'm lucky enough to own 2 originals!). I especially love his "Places on Earth" maps.
