(40 Posts)

Was asked this by small child today and not sure, so thought I'd see if you lot know.

It's stops them getting wet when it rains.

phantomnamechanger Mon 20-Jan-14 21:25:18

because its the best place to wait for billy goats of course

BlessedAssurance Mon 20-Jan-14 21:25:54

Because it's dark and trolls can not face light..

sassytheFIRST Mon 20-Jan-14 21:26:29

Phantom has it.

RenterNomad Mon 20-Jan-14 21:27:40

Yes, there's a point about the light. Also, it's dsmp under the bridge, which is good for slimy skin...

Ah, but why? Why do they have slimy skin? Why can they not face light? Why do they eat goats? Why do they not like rain?

[I may have a 'why' child...]

It depends on the kind of troll. Some live under bridges but some live under your bed!

Robin - I like your thinking! But the troll would probably end up under our bed to get away from the questions.

They turn into stone in the sunlight, don't they?

RenterNomad Mon 20-Jan-14 21:43:24

Unpleasant creatures can't stand the light.

Unpleasant creatures are slimy.

Because the bridge acts as an amplifier and they can better hear children asking why why why, which, as everyone knows, is their favourite type of snack ..

Too mean? grin

SundaySimmons Mon 20-Jan-14 21:44:27

Because they can't claim housing benefit?

Wherediparkmybroom Mon 20-Jan-14 21:44:36

People won't rent them houses because they smell.

Maryz Mon 20-Jan-14 21:46:02

They don't any more. They live inside your computer screen instead [helpful]

meditrina Mon 20-Jan-14 21:46:18

Because the miss the fjords and want to be near both water and food (ie travellers, whether goaty or not, who pass over the bridge).

Do they live under the Dartford Crossing and cause it to be closed or snails pace traffic ?

<<Can think of no other reason sometimes>>

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis Mon 20-Jan-14 21:48:33

Nononono they live in the mountains. Apart from those who have migrated to the cities where they live in increasing harmony with other races and find useful employ in many areas.

It offers the element of surprise, when one's dinner is out for its afternoon stroll by the river, under a bridge is a good place to hide. Also, from one's vantage point under the bridge, one can hear one's dinner trip trapping over the top. Trolls are rather lazy creatures and cannot be arsed to hunt. To conclude:

1. Hide
2. Sit back with feet up
3. Trip Trapping
4. Yum!

CouthyMow Mon 20-Jan-14 21:50:04

grin I was going to say what MaryZ did!

you (though possibly not your curious child) need to watch this awesome film

Splodges Mon 20-Jan-14 21:52:17

It's just their natural habitat, for which they have evolved to be perfectly adapted. Why do you live in a house? Why? Why? But why?
