I'm supposed to be driving from West Yorks to Newcastle this lunchtime (with toddler and 5mo) - can anyone let me know what conditions are like with you? Obviously will check the official channels but am more wanting to know others' perspective on whether you'd drive up the A1 today if it were you.....
Thank you!!

On the border of north/west Yorkshire and the roads are ok at the moment. It's snowing quite heavily but underneath is wet.

York is fine, as is the east of york all the way to Hull from what I can tell. Colleague in Harrogate has 2 inches (oo-err) and is working from home today.

Double- I consider myself a mackem too. Although in County Durham I have an SR postcode and family are life long safc fans so that enough for me!
Don't envy you the drive to Newcastle every day!

Roads are fine here in Leeds and very quiet as eveyone seems to have stayed at home.
The A1 to Newcastle will be fine, just check TomTom live traffic before you set off.

Hi Wereon.. I'm guessing at Seaham :-) still no snow here at all!!
East Durham - only the odd flake of snow but the wind is awful. I had to keep my mouth closed when I was walking to pick up the kids because it was like chewing ice cream. And the house is cold. Our house wasn't even this cold on Wednesday when we had more snow than this and no electric all day, so no heating.

I'm not far from York but in East Yorkshire. Bloody freezing, but no snow as yet...
And not Seaham, here - further South and inland a couple of miles.
And ETA, you've probably passed here, by now.

Wish I saw this earlier as I was on the A1 from Scotch Corner to Newton Aycliffe and it was fine then. Its nothing to get excited about up here. You should have made it OK.
It's clear. Freezing cold, icy and windy but no snow lying.
