I am so fed up with the complete lack of choice of clothing for DS.
I buy most of his clothes on eBay and DM knits for him which is great as I can't find anything that
-doesn't have a jeffing applique dinosaur etc on it
-doesn't look like it's for a teenager
-doesn't have 'Here comes trouble' etc on it
-isn't a dirty brown/ green/ khaki colour
-isn't a stripy jumper
-fits properly (always too big round the waist)
There must be some clothes for toddlers that are unisex or not specifically male iyswim, and are a bit interesting. Same goes for shoes, why are they all so boring?
<sigh>
Anyone else care to rant?
and WHY in children's clothes departments are 80% girls and 20% boys?
That's damned annoying
i hate the widespread boring brown-ness, & the ugly, boring shoes too.
i quite like dinosaurs/ skulls/ slogans etc, though.
Completely agree, makes me so

I am quite fond of the odd appliqué dinosaur, but other than that YANBU.
The scandinavian brands are pretty good, much more unisex and fun - but the clothes are expensive.

I like boots & H&m for under 5s
Still struggling to find trousers for a tall skinny 9 yo though.
Yes.
Stop making school polo shirts so short .
And why is everything fecking grey?
And what's with the apes wearing sunglasses on t-shirts?

I like to know why on earth they put functioning pockets on baby clothes? Actual babies under a year old??

DS2 was given a t-shirt which had written on it (in blood-red drippy style letters) 'I tried to be good but I got bored'
Horrible, but him to a T. Whoever designed it obviously had him in mind.
glittery I wouldn't mind it if there were other things on offer but if you go to, say, um, BODEN, that's all they offer!
After 3 girls its been an eye opener with DS. There's a lot less choice but I'm loving that dressing him is a lot less complicated than the girls, no tights, no leggings, no dresses, no bolero cardigans, no hair bobbles and clips
I have found Boden quite good, always giving you discount codes makes it affordable and there's the odd thing if you have a good look around.
Skang, YES! And why the flippin pretend drawstrings? Why not functional ones?????

Don't get me started on the flipping character t-shirts
i mostly get stuff for ds from h and m as they have lots of bright colours
It's shit isn't it <sigh>
I buy everything online now. H&M are ok sometimes, and I like Juicytots.co.uk
I don't mind the dinosaurs, but I hate the buses, trains, planes etc. enough of the endless modes of transport!
Although, I always thought there was more choice for girls but now with dd on the way I'm struggling to find much other than flowers, hearts or cupcakes...
redpencils - debenhams for funky coloured chinos for 7+ age range. Not too pricey, either

Agree completely, I went mad when M&S stocked some colourful stuff (last year I think?) and bought the t-shirts in every size!
Do H&M still do the colourful jeans? We had some red ones in a smaller size and they rocked.
The Jools Oliver "Little Bird" range at Mothercare had some nice bits but they always flipping sell out.
I mostly look for stuff on eBay, and have been lucky that some of DS's big sister's stuff was red and blue, so it can be used for him too.
I'll rebel with the footwear. He can spend the summer in bright orange crocs even if the rest of him is brown/grey/navy.

We have a couple of Boden t-shirts bought with a voucher (thanks johnnie!) and a discount code. One has a digger on and one a helicopter, just because DS is vehicle mad at the moment (21 mo).
We buy a lot from sainsburys and usually love their bits and pieces. Agree with the overwhelming girly pink against the tiny bit of boy selection though.
I used to love an American clothes store for m'boy. You could make him look like an American there. He had bright blue busy print Hawaiian shirts. Just for a change from all the jeffing dinosaurs and "here comes trouble" I'm so with you on that one.

Wish I could afford to dress DS in head-to-toe Polarn O Pyret. Love their stuff but so so pricey, even on eBay!

I do love a stripey jumper though
Problem is, I sometimes "rock a breton"
meself and then both DSes and I are all neatly lined up and we look like the aquafresh family or something.
Yes to stupid big waistbands. By the time jeans fit my boy they barely reach his ankles.

Poppy - yes M&S did have some good things last summer, I stocked up for DS1.
I've just got some really nice rugby shirts in bright colours for mine from Boden. Yes they are stripy, but I like stripy and at least they are bright and not dingy grey/sludge/green (yes Mothercare and Sainsbury's i'm looking at you).
Lewisfan yeah, but a lot of the girls stuff is the same old boring pinks & lilacs & princesses & glitter stuff, so no matter what you can't win!
(although there's occasionally some nice mint green/ lemon yellow stuff)

Oliva - one day last summer we all got dressed and were in various navy and white bretons of one kind and another, I'm ashamed to say all from Boden. All four of us!
We changed.
