Dd has come up with one of her famous random questions....

If you were in a taxi race would you be in a London taxi, a New York taxi or a normal car taxi (she means private hire) and why would you pick that taxi?

I really don't know what goes on in her brain sometimes

London Taxi because they corner the best.

New York taxi, its likely to have a HUGE cc engine as petrol/diesel aka "gas" is comparatively cheap in America

depends, if there's lots of corners a London taxi but a normal car taxi if it's snowing because black cabs don't cope well with snow

ScillyCow Wed 20-Mar-13 21:02:17

London taxi because I love those seats that face the wrong way

London taxi because I like them - there's only a few where I live, so they're a treat when I go to London

New York taxi here, only coz I get to give my dd a dead leg every time we see a yellow car grin.

It would depend entirely on the race conditions.

London taxi - would do best on a city centre route where you needed a tight turning space.

New York taxi - i guess would probably be best for going in a straight line. I think they have bigger engines than uk cars so probably quite fast though not as quick off the start as they'd be heavier.

Normal minicab - good for rallying or round a track with bends (not Indycar racing).

Does that help?

<now worried that those answers make me look like a geek blush>

Apparently the race would be down the M6 and it would be closed to cars that weren't taxis

I had no idea she had even heard of the m6!

KansasCityOctopus Wed 20-Mar-13 21:34:43

private hire, can be any car you want as long as its registered as Taxi - subaru or Ford Focus Sport anyone?

steppemum Wed 20-Mar-13 21:37:04

well I was going to say London taxi because I love the idea of racing in a London taxi.

But if it is down the M6, then it has to be private hire. A huge newish mercedes or BMW, sit back and put your foot down grin

PS, can I drive the taxi?

London taxi by a mile.

They are awesome, you can chat whilst you spank the other 2, they corner brilliantly and park on a 10p piece.

NY taxis have broken seats so you're so low you can't see out the window. Plus the drivers portion is really close to your knees. Plus when it snows they get like 6 inches of frozen melt water in the footwell. Plus they're crap unless they're on a numbered grid, even in their own city.

Private cab. Won't turn up. Then blame you for not them not turning up.

London. They have a friendlier face than New York ones. Also, I'm not keen on yellow and often find private hire ones smell odd.

I think london taxis also have a better ramming potential.

Private hire [mini cab]

Is your DD Jeremy Clarkson? She could make a mint selling Top Gear challenges if she's coming up with this already.

I think London taxi, purely to be patriotic.
