My brother in law had a silly email account name when he was younger, he miraculously worked out how to open a new one with just his name when he got older and realised he needed it for work etc. Amazing!

I await, with interest, your discovery that they have equipped themselves with a thoroughly silly email address.

Good plan. DH did this for our DC too, to 'bag' appropriate names on gmail.

now you need to convince a multi-national to use their names as a product and you can sell them the addresses ala 20th fox

I've just lost my embarrassingly silly one I've had for years. I'm going to miss it. We decided we'd better have a relatively sane one for the DDs to give out.

It's ok for DSIS she is the only Stars Sister in the country, so she has the simplest email going. Our surname is common and used various compies so ours is still slightly difficult.

It's gone really strange round here, seemingly innocuous remarks are being blown so far out of proportion that its putting me off starting threads now. And bear in mind that I've a been a fairly prolific poster since 2005, I am not easily dissuaded.

My brother created his own domain nearly 13 years ago just so he could set up an appropriate email address for his now nearly 13 year old daughter.

So bagging a Gmail address is purely amateur hour.

Yeah - we did the same for DS.... I thought I had an unusual name but it turns out there are 2 more of us in the world, and the other two are rubbish at giving out the right email address (I have our name, they must have our name plus something else, but have never responded to my requests via their friends to let me know where I should forward the misdirected email..)

That's nothing.

When each of the DCs was born DH bought their name as a domain eg fredsmith.me.uk or daievans.me.uk.

He got me mine too. It's a really useful spam system.
