I'm wearing my kirby grips flat side out, today's dinner is in the slow cooker, and I've just re-dyed DH's blazer black.

And it's all because of MN grin. Tell me things that you've done because of MN too.

Baby vests are designed to be taken off downwards? shock

That's a needed revelation after dd2 is the biggest poo monster I've ever met. Seriously, poo up to shoulders on back or tummy. Such fun.

Lemon drizzle cake you say? Linky please.

To do I need a poxy stew cooker? (I had a think about the meat browning, I'm not convinced)

It's over there --> Randal, recipe of the week, again.
It is bloody good. Nice and big too smile

Thank you for bringing this into my life! I bloody love lemon drizzle cake but always presumed it was beyond me.

you need a slow cooker that has a "fry" option like mine so you can brown in it first then slow cook afterwards. Mine also makes great cakes and caramelised onions/peppers.

It can also do rice and pasta but tbh I don;t see the problem with cooking them in a saucepan.

very new to mumsnet - only joined today. I am amazed. I have laughed, cried and comforted. I have learned some great tips (love the bedding tip). still learning the lingo, but I will get there. My top tip re wine boxes is never try to open the cardboard box with a knife. You can easily puncture the inner bag and will have to down the contents very quickly!

Why would you ever have need to deal with candle wax inside your tumble drier confused

KatieMiddleton Tue 19-Mar-13 19:07:58

Cakes Kewcumber? Tell me more please

Kewcumber Tue 19-Mar-13 19:11:49

Lovingly make sponge mixture from scratch whisk oil and water into cake mix pour into multifunction slow cooker, press cake option.

Decorate as required.

Kewcumber Tue 19-Mar-13 19:12:23

the inner tin in the multifunction cooker I linked to is non stick (worth oiling though)

Oh my fucking god, baby vests are designed to be taken off from the top. I have 3 dc, I have been a mother for almost 8 years and I never new that. It totally makes sence, that's why they have those envelope type things at the top. Does everyone know this ? Am I the last ?

Cremolafoam Tue 19-Mar-13 19:51:08

That faddy diets become fashionable and then vanish without trace

Marsladys Drizzle cake natch

Flexitol is the dogs bollox for dry hooves

Lilylolo mineral makeup is brilliant

The words fanjo and norks ( now I don't even notice I'm using them)

The joys of watching telly while chatting about the programme on mumsnet

Putting vinegar in with your towels makes them soft

DeskPlanner Tue 19-Mar-13 20:05:50

Crap. I meant take off baby vests from the bottom. It's simply amazing !

ItsAllTLAsToMe Tue 19-Mar-13 20:13:39

I did wonder, DeskPlanner!

I learned that re-heated rice may give you D+V. With hindsight, I think it did give DH and I D+V once. I told DM yesterday, but she didn't believe me.

LlamateurDramatics Tue 19-Mar-13 20:21:29

My use of white vinegar has increased exponentially since joining MN - I'd been using it in nappy washes before but had never considered using it for anything else.
The thing that was a real revelation though was the push-in tabs on cling film boxes, never noticed them before! smile
What's the foil/radiator thing about?

thatsmygirl Tue 19-Mar-13 20:45:03

Welcome, familylawmum, though I feel a bit presumptuous saying it as a relative newcomer myself. Welcome! It's bloody brilliant. Cackle.

stoofadoof Tue 19-Mar-13 21:18:26

llamateur the push-in tabs was a revelation to me too, and I have a little chuckle to myself every time I use them now smile

foil behind the radiator helps retain/relect heat in the room rather than 'soaking' into the wall...

Cremolafoam Tue 19-Mar-13 21:33:35

Oh yes freezing the juice box to keep the pack lunch cold. Geeenyusgrin

Blimey, that's an intimidating piece of kit!
I thought they were just gigantic plug-in saucepans.

I still have much to learn.

mrsjay Tue 19-Mar-13 21:47:29

I did that before mumsnet I may have even invented it not really I also used to freeze frubes in the summer

DottyDot Tue 19-Mar-13 22:23:52

I freeze 1 pint plastic bottles of milk when we go camping - keeps things in the cool box chilled and slowly defrosts for cuppas and cereal over the next day or two.

That's usually my contribution to Mumsnet camping threads! grin

Actually, thinking about it, going camping is something I've got into via the power of Mumsnet...

mrsjay Tue 19-Mar-13 22:25:32

that is actually genuis frozen milk who knew grin
