I'm wearing my kirby grips flat side out, today's dinner is in the slow cooker, and I've just re-dyed DH's blazer black.

And it's all because of MN grin. Tell me things that you've done because of MN too.

I decided to not care that the only way I can get through supper time with my preschooler and toddler without carnage and bad tempers all round is to let them watch nursery rhymes on the computer while they eat.

Soon enough they will be 6 and 4 and we can have "proper" family meals then, once they are old enough. We will all sit around, eat politely and make intelligent conversation.

Until then, the wheels on the bus go round and round ...

There's a right way up for weetabix???

MN has taught me, I'm not a failure because I couldn't breast feed.

Maryz Mon 18-Mar-13 14:20:00

And then soon after, they will be 16 and 14 and on their phones while you all eat grin

That a nest of vipers can change the world. In a good way.

KatieMiddleton Mon 18-Mar-13 14:30:56

I'm going to offer a revelation now. Hold on to your hats...

Wine boxes. These have changed my life. Your wine keeps fresh for 6 weeks so you can have the odd glass now and then without having to use a whole bottle (I know I'm losing some of you now but for the lightweights, breastfeeders and co sleepers this is Very Good News) and it holds 3 x bottles. We can make one last 10 days a month and save a fortune.

That I needed more folic acid and that Vit B6 might sort out my cycle. grin

alterego2 Mon 18-Mar-13 14:54:10

Not quite as light hearted but just as useful: how to recognise that my H was having an affair and to have the courage to call him on it.

And I've bought a slow cooker.

AndTwoBits Mon 18-Mar-13 14:57:40

katemiddleton I am not understanding what you mean by wine boxes? Can you or someone else please explain so I can buy one!! Loving the idea of being able to have a glass or two and the whole bottle's not wasted!

Maryz Mon 18-Mar-13 15:00:50

Katie, I hate to tell you but wineboxes are a disaster for me.

Bottles have the distinct advantage of being empty after a reasonable number of drinks. And when they are empty, I stop drinking.

Unfortunately wine boxes don't get empty quickly enough.

KatieMiddleton Mon 18-Mar-13 15:00:55

It's wine that comes in a box with a little tap with a valve that you fit to use. I'll find a link.

I can remember my parents "getting a box of wine" for parties in the early 90s but it was mostly undrinkable pish. Nowadays you can get some decent stuff. I have done extensive testing!

Maryz Mon 18-Mar-13 15:01:31

And I do not understand the use of the words "wasted" "unfinished" and "wine" in the same sentence [baffled]

DottyDot Mon 18-Mar-13 15:02:48

Can someone please explain the conditioner on radiators? Do you wipe them with conditioner or put a tissue with conditioner on one or what?! Need it for our smelly boys/cats (oh for a minimalist, clean house...).

Surely wine boxes need no introduction- they've been around for years - at least these days the wine in them is slightly better than it used to be. Marvellous invention...!

ItsAllTLAsToMe Mon 18-Mar-13 15:06:38

That's a good point, alterego, MN has taught me about lots of useful things, both small and big. I hope you're okay.

zeno Mon 18-Mar-13 15:06:57

Had my boobs hefted by Rigby and Peller after reading the bra interventions and realising it was needed. Have gone from wearing a 38B to 32F <eeeeeeek> and now have bras that fit instead of digging in.

Bedding in pillowcases

112 emergency number - didn't know that before at all

Boostapak child seat for travelling - genius product

ItsAllTLAsToMe Mon 18-Mar-13 15:08:14

Katie, you've caused consternation with your wine boxes post grin. I did the same once by asking about freezing leftover wine to cook with.

KatieMiddleton Mon 18-Mar-13 15:08:30

Yeah it won't work for the lushes some Maryz grin

Wine in a box I've tested this one. It's reasonable. Not amazing but it's wine in a box for a glass of an evening and cooking with, not wine out to lunch at Michelin starred restaurant.

ItsAllTLAsToMe Mon 18-Mar-13 15:09:36

Can someone please tell me about 112 and Boostapak childseats?

KatieMiddleton Mon 18-Mar-13 15:11:29

112 is universal emergency number. So if you're in France and need emergency number dial 112. In Spain? Dial 112. In UK, dial 112.

Each country has it's own emergency number but they all vary. So they have 112 too in most countries.
