We were watching an episode of TOTP from 1978. The entire family were rollong round on the floor! grin

God I wanted to be one of those dancers!

Can you imagine what would happen if they took that routine onto Got To Dance!!

goose stepping grin bizarre

37, 1:13 and 1:28seconds are the highlights! grin

hahahahahahahah grin grin grin

It's kind of like dad dancing but with cheeky pursey lips.

I am also old enough to remember Pans People. It wasn't dancing - it was miming the words to music.

Hot Gossip came along and blew them out the water.

I was only 3 in 1978 so I dont remember any of them! thank GOD!

Maat Sun 17-Mar-13 22:21:59

I've had to watch it again.

I am weeping with laughter. grin

FreudiansSlipper Sun 17-Mar-13 22:26:24

Awww we all loved them! Shame we can't watch totp now without thinking 'eeewwww, pervy DJs'.

I wonder how many of synthetic squirrels died to make these costumes!!! Looks like some of them might be still alive!

Goose stepping and bunny hops.
Bonkers.
They fuelled many a young man'd early fantasies.
My dh goes misty eyed at mention of any 70s/80s TOTP dance troupes.

Good to see laydeeez sans tatts....

I dont know what the one in green is on, but I want some!

LemonMousse Sun 17-Mar-13 23:03:13

I think they used them to fill in when the actual 'Artiste' was unavailable. I really wanted to be one of them when I grew up. They were just so 'glam' grin

Did you have excessively long legs and a weirdly bendy body?

LemonMousse Sun 17-Mar-13 23:09:30

Strangely enough I do have very long legs but I'm not particularly bendy. I would fling myself around in front of the telly when they were on convinced I 'had what it takes' like a spindly elephant grin

Catchingmockingbirds Sun 17-Mar-13 23:10:34

Legs and Co? That's a strip club in Glasgow.

timidviper Sun 17-Mar-13 23:15:25

My DD saw them a while back and asked why did they all have such small boobs. It struck me as quite sad that young women today do not realise that these dancers have a natural, slim, athletic figure and large boobs are quite unusua in women this sliml. All the young slim women they see on tv in the present day are so surgically enhanced, it worries me that it has become a norm

VicarInaTutu Sun 17-Mar-13 23:21:07

the best one ever was the one with "im looking over, a 4 leaf clover"....their literal interpretations were so funny....

a more innocent time me thinks!

foslady Sun 17-Mar-13 23:50:32

I remember a 'years later' interview with one or two of the members. Their choreographer was a lady called Flick Coleby if I remember right. They said how they'd work on a couple of dance routines based on the predictions of the songs released that week the day after doing the show. If they'd got predictions wrong, on the Monday following the chart release the singles used to be frisbee'd across the floor and they'd have to go like mad working on new routines ready for the Thursday.....and they were usually the shitter ones!!!!

cornsilkcremeeggspotter Sun 17-Mar-13 23:59:28

I remember one where they just walked around the stage opening doors and walking through - no dancing involved at all.
