Well, from midlands.

I'm driving to manchester tomorrow and just wondering what the roads are like?

I've been scared about driving on cliffs (big fear of mine) and possibly snow?

Lockedout434 Sun 17-Mar-13 20:22:27

There are no cliffs between manchester and Birmingham so dont worry about that.
We haven't had any decent snow all year. Whilst everyone else has been in drifts we have had a slight cupful.
Get on the m6 then m56 and you will reach gods chosen city.
Don't for get to say "thanks luv" to people.

skiesmylimit Sun 17-Mar-13 20:47:14

Sorted then, thankyou

did I forget to mention I also don't like the motorway

Librarina Sun 17-Mar-13 20:51:18

There's no snow in Manchester today but a lot of Irish.
Don't say "Thankyou" say "Ta" and you'll fit right in.

SueFawley Sun 17-Mar-13 20:53:47

I'm half way between Manchester and Birmingham, in south Cheshire, and there's no snow here either (although we do have a kind of cliff but you won't go anywhere near it!). I would say your route is entirely snow and cliff free.

SueFawley Sun 17-Mar-13 20:55:19

agree with "ta" and call people "love" and if you want a bread roll sandwich from the butty shop, it's a barmcake.

homesick. grin

waves to SueFawley from south cheshire too.....

Why on earth do you not like motorways??? The m6 north is practically a car park at certain points in the day. You won't get over 50 ever. MOVE OVER you middle lane (BMW, Audi, merc ) hoggers.

So therefore it's a34 all the way up( it follows the line of the m6, BUT it's full of tractors going about 70.

Lockedout434 Mon 18-Mar-13 00:50:09

By the way there is still no snow
A barmcake is an oven bottom if you want a small roll it's a bap .

Lockedout434 Mon 18-Mar-13 00:58:29

By the way Ta is common in south manchester. It's a north manchester ( or wythenshawe .. faints) saying. As is pronouncing book as bouk and clipper card as clipper caaaard ( only people of a certain age will get that last reference)

skiesmylimit Mon 18-Mar-13 06:35:02

Ta grin

Although you all lost me on the bap and barmcake

What's wrong with sandwich or cob smile

Bunbaker Mon 18-Mar-13 06:42:37

If you ask for a cob round here (Yorkshire) you would get a horse.

skiesmylimit Mon 18-Mar-13 06:48:07

I'm from nottinghamshire. Either I'm not with 'it' but horse is horse, cob is a bread roll with fillings, a bit like a sandwich smile

chickensaladagain Mon 18-Mar-13 06:54:35

lockedout

You obviously haven't studied the Manchester language properly

It's clip-ah caaaaard!

NeverBeenToMe Mon 18-Mar-13 07:00:19

Stockport girl here smile They won't know what you mean if you ask for a cob. Or a batch! (Unless they've met my cousin who moved to Nuneaton and now speaks their lingo grin )

Numberlock Mon 18-Mar-13 07:14:38

Cliffs???

skiesmylimit Mon 18-Mar-13 07:20:24

What I've been told numberlock, however they may of been doing that to scare me as I really will not drive next to a cliff, they told me cliff edges

Lockedout434 Mon 18-Mar-13 07:29:06

Chickensalad spot on I now to your superior knowledge.

A cob is a crusty bap.
A sandwich is made with slices of bread.

The only cliff edge I know is alderly edge. No need to go that way the witches will get you.

Lockedout434 Mon 18-Mar-13 07:29:31

Bow not now

Librarina Mon 18-Mar-13 07:57:27

Oh, now I'm all nostalgic for my Clipper Card! I was always losing mine and having to walk to the Finglands office to try and find it (not that that was an excuse for a crafty fag at school, no not at all)

It's beautifully sunny in ....gasp.... Wythenshawe this morning.

Lockedout434 Mon 18-Mar-13 10:17:55

Librarina. Oh a native of the village of wythenshawe.....
Clutches pearls
Are you safe lovely do you need me to send in some rocket and focaccia.
Here in leafy burnage pronounced burn arrge we have that sort of thing

I can make a dawn raid into Didsbury. They will be at their ashtang yoga classes now and won't notice me

NeverBeenToMe Mon 18-Mar-13 10:21:54

You lot are making me homesick! I might follow the OP up the A34 smile (avoiding the cliffs of course)

Librarina Mon 18-Mar-13 10:46:41

It's okay Locked dearie, I caught the bus to Chorlton this weekend so have a full complement of organic hummous & carrots with the dirt on.

However the bus terminated at Civic so I also have a bag of bashed pasties & a gold ring with 'Mam' on it.

Lockedout434 Mon 18-Mar-13 10:59:10

Tee hee

Bunbaker Mon 18-Mar-13 12:43:46
