PoppadomPreach Thu 14-Mar-13 13:48:20

For something different, but unbelievably tasty, try Hugh Fearnley- whittingstall's black pudding and prawn pilaf

PrincessRagnhild Thu 14-Mar-13 13:49:41

Dahl/dal/daal with chapatis (not sure how to spell it).

TobyLerone Thu 14-Mar-13 13:50:13

grin at the steak....i think mine is a tad grumpy that i didn't mention steak and bj day so is stuck what to pick

wibblyjelly Thu 14-Mar-13 14:10:57

We are going to a steakhouse for dinner tonight. Not intentionally though!

DumSpiroSpero Thu 14-Mar-13 14:22:10

We're having toad in the hole.

Otherwise I sometimes do a kind of giant sausage roll filled with sausage meat, stilton, apple and mushrooms which is pretty popular.

We're having chipotle bean chilli. Have made it already and it smells delicious. Will have it in wholemeal tortillas with a blob of sour cream for me as dh likes chilli too spicy

By the way am impressed you discuss what's for dinner. We have what I've put on the menu plan. Dh gets a surprise every night!

Tonight I'm working this evening so DC have macaroni cheese and I've got DH a small tiger loaf that he can polish off with lurpak (I'm dieting so couldn't resist the temptation if I was around!)

shopping i shop for a fortnight at a time....there's 14 days worth of evening meals in the house they can pick from (dp's turn today), am quite happy to cook any of them of my list and cross off as we go rather than tell them they're having x meal on y night smile

Oooo dum that sounds lush. Recipe please. We are having baked spuds with a variety of toppings/fillings.

IsaacCox Thu 14-Mar-13 15:32:31

Dum, that sausage roll sounds fab. Could you share the recipe please? smile Not sure what's for dinner yet as have only just had breakfast (potatoes, sausage, bacon, biscuit, scrambled eggs and a waffle with syrup)

lucysmam Thu 14-Mar-13 16:10:09

Isaac, i could probably rustle that up but cba......kids are having bangers and mash ......we will eat later when dp decides.....sounds lush though

I'm doing 5:2 and this is my fasting day but I've made a lovely mexican chicken stew with wholegrain rice for everyone else, it smells fantastic!

Chinese takeaway for us, DH is working and the DCs and I have horrible colds so thought we would have a treat of Chinese and a blink box film! Sorry, not helpful at all grin

lucysmam Thu 14-Mar-13 16:29:58

For me too please sugar.

clangermum Thu 14-Mar-13 17:41:38

requesting sugar and dum's recipes too

pretty please

so tired of jacket pots and completely out of inspiration

although I have discovered that many things (in the stew/mush line) look more impressive when cooked in a tagine

SomeKindOfDeliciousBiscuit Thu 14-Mar-13 18:11:56

I'm doing the scallops and rice and brownies from Jamie's 30 minute meals not at all mostly thinking about the brownies

DumSpiroSpero Thu 14-Mar-13 18:33:04

It's not really a recipe as such. I use the meat from about 4 large pork sausages, half a standard pack of stilton - crumbled, a small chopped apple (something like a Cox or Gala) with the skin on and a handful of chopped mushrooms - mushed all together until it's well mixed.

Roll out half a pack of ready made puff pastry quite thinly and put filling down the middle, turn ends over and wrap sides (sticking them with a bit of water our beaten egg) so you have a parcel - our you can do a 'plait' if you have the time/inclination!

Stick it on baking tray with the joins on the bottom, make a couple of slashes in the top, brush with beaten egg & bake (Gas 5 for about 25-30 mins - I normally guess tbh).

It's even better cold the next day for lunch grin.
