When we got married we didn't have an evening "do" for several reasons. I was always going to have an anniversary party after 10 years and have the evening bit of our wedding.....we've now been married 14 years, and it's looking like I'm never going to have one. There is always something more important to spend the money on (like feeding and clothing the DC, lol!)
So if you had one what was it? (YouTube link appreciated) so I can copy you if I ever have my fantasy party or if you didn't have one/never will - do you feel sad like me? Or should I pull myself together?

Elvis's "Can't Help Falling in Love" sung by one of my closest friends. We recently had a party to celebrate our 25th anniversary and we danced again to her singing it.

We had "i love everything about you" by Steve Poltz- originally on notting hill sound track (loved the song on friend's cd; have never seen the movie). I would have had "my first, my last, my everything" by barry white, but a friend used it a few months before we got married and I didn't want to copy. (sorry can't link from phone)

Think it would have to be In the Aeroplane over the Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel.
Lovely lyrics.
Like the idea of a Moz song as well though, or Bruce Springsteen.

Neither of us can dance really, so we had a 'wedding song' and asked everyone to join us on the dance floor for 500 Miles by The Proclaimers. It was brilliant!

Something changed by pulp. I see we're not the only ones.

I wanted Something Changed by Pulp! but DH wasn't keen, we ended up with the Ray Lamontagne & Damien Rice version of To Love Somebody

We wanted something indie/non cheesy and we've been to see Damien Rice together twice so it made sense

Oh, and some lovely songs on here folks
We had Up Where We Belong because DH was in the Air Force, and The Wind Beneath My Wings by Lee Greenwood, not the sickly-sweet version from Beaches (it isn't on YouTube so the link is to the album).
Yes they're both terribly cheesy but we got married in the early 90's and we were so in luuuuurve...
We had this Someone to watch over me by Ella Fitzgerald.
The one and only time DH has danced with me.
Some great choices here though. I think I would choose I Can Hear Music by the Beach Boys if I could choose again.

Didn't have one, but I always thought Burt Baccarat 'This Guys In Love with You' would've been perfect, if a bit slushy.

We had Baby I Live You by Aretha Franklin. DH was the drummer in a nine piece soul band so we had to have something soulful. It was perfect and short!

Missed ours as I was bf
it was chosen by mil anyway as dh and I hadn't even thought of one. Bit of a rush, really
We choose bob marley for ds to be born to, but during the emcs they played early Bowie instead.
Al Green, Let's Stay Together...... hopeful!!! Ha! Have done for 7 yrs so far.....
FWIW am definitely more a fan of the uncomfortable shuffle as opposed to the rehearsed routine...
We had Something Changed as one of the songs playing while we signed the register.
There is a traditional waltz you use in Denmark where wewere married. it has to be danced before midnight and when the newly wed dance the guests make a huge circle and then clap along to the melody after a short period they then make the circle smaller and smaller until the newlywed cant dance anymore.
This is symbolic of the support and love the guests will give the newly wed in their married life.
I have already told my children they will dance to this when they marry laughs
here about 1 minute in they begin to make it smaller

My dad is a professional ( ballroom) dancer.... He teaches now.
For a few years now he's given couples a crash course on the first dance of their choice, usually the vienese waltz or a standard waltz.
It's very popular

we were going to get married in april but impending parenthood has put it on hold. hadn't got as far as deciding but probably would've been either you do something to me by Paul weller or everlong by foo fighters but the acoustic version. we would have had you and me song as our 'exit' music from the registry office.
