A day to yourself - what would you do?

I have an unexpected lieu day on Monday... No idea what to do with myself... If you had 7 hours to yourself, what would you do? Been working v hard and been poorly, so no hillwalking suggestions please!!

Determined not to waste it sorting out stuff at home.

As the mum to a 14 month old, I'd have a very long lie-in. I'd then get my hair and nails done and my eyebrows waxed. I'd then have a late lunch and a large glass of wine. I would conclude proceedings by a long hot bath, some super toasty pjs and an early night.

What Moose said - sounds perfect!!

I would watch telly in bed, get up and go out to avoid temptation of doing housework. I'd treat myself to brunch and a trashy mag in a cafe, then go for a child free swim. Then I'd go and get my hair cut and have a wander round the shops, picking up a ready meal / takeaway for tea on the way home. It sounds like bliss. We have no child care at all, I've not had a whole day to myself for 4 years and 8 months. But I am expecting my working day to finish early tomorrow so have booked in a haircut - not been able to go for one for about 8 months!

The day of freedom ends at 3.30 school pick up. i love the late lunch idea. And wine. Might just book a facial as skin is horrendous with stressy spots...

Wishing you all some childcare and YOU time. X

I would go to a museum and actually be able to read the information about the pieces I was interested in instead of chase a child around it looking harassed! Then I'd have a leisurely coffee and people watch.

OR get my hair and nails done and chill enjoying the quiet for a bit.

Stay out of your home because otherwise you'll find yourself spending the day doing boring jobs that you have been meaning to do for ages like sorting out the children's clothes, fixing small items etc...

Go clothes shopping, even if only trying stuff on. DD is 20 months old and has definite opinions about being dragged round changing rooms. I miss trying on clothes instead of buying random items on-line and hoping they fit.

I have a full day to my self today. The toddler went to his dads last night and isn't due back til 6/7 tonight.

I have done a loads of washing, dish washer is on, dryer is on, mopped kitchen floor and threw some toys away.

Exciting! Get out of the house otherwise you get trapped grin

I get fri school hours to myself at the moment and today I came home and went back to bed, am 21 weeks pregnant and not sleeping well and feel generally crap at the moment so feel much better after an extra couple of hours sleep.

DON'T go on Mumsnet, it will eat up your entire bloody morning.

Sit in a cafe with a book then have a back massage or a facial followed by a relaxing lunch somewhere I don't have to worry if the children like the menu.

I've also gone to cinema to see a film that only I wanted to go and see. Imagine watching a film without any children standing up, sitting down, spilling popcorn etc. bliss!

Sleep.

go for sushi and a facial (not together).

I'd take myself for a day out to somewhere like Chatsworth House, somewhere I would never wish to drag the boys round but would definitely enjoy on my own.

When I unexpectedly find myself without either work or child responsibilities I inevitably end up shopping for bras as it's damn difficult to do with a child (or DH) in tow.

Spa day, or if no money available, I'd stay at home have a bath, eat chocolate and read a book.

I am getting the leisurely... Chilled... Chocolate... Spa vibes. Taking the advice, thanks. Have a relaxing mothers day all of you!

I had the day all to myself the other week. I stayed in bed for hours, then had a sugary pastry breakfast. I had a bath and then spent forty minutes doing my make up in between reading a magazine. Then I went into town to buy a lovely soft cardigan and then wore it to the cinema. I went to a showing where you get a big sofa seat and free booze and chocolates. Then when the film finished I went for a cigarette and a cocktail at a nice bar and read my book. It was sunny that day too.

Ah! It was the best day ever!

I would have a long lie in, a hot bath then a nice breakfast. Then walk to the local shop buy myself some chocolate and a big pile of trashy mags then park myself on the sofa!
