Which flowers would end up in the bin/regifted if you got a bunch?
Just reading the cunning poo thread and a few people mentioned a poo-like stink some daffs can give off - it reminded me that there are some flowers I can't have in the house for the smell, and others I don't think should be cut.
Stinkers:
Daffodils, Hyacinths, Lilies
Flowers that I only like planted, hate them cut:
Sunflowers, Daffodils
I've actually gone as far as adding a Note on DHs iPhone re 'Flowers Tiddly likes and which to avoid'...
Wow good tip VenusRising thankyou

I don't like mixed bouquets where you get 1 stem of 4/5 different flowers .unfortunately these are all my DH seems to buy me but I don't want to hurt his feelings and tell him. I just keep buying myself lovely bunches of lilies and hope he gets the message.
If the pollen is a problem just cut off the stamens and if you do get some on clothes try to lift it off with sticky tape instead off rubbing it in.
Guess what flowers DH bought me? Yes, Chrysanths
Sainsburys was full of beautiful flowers of all types, because I bought my mum stocks, tulips and daffs. I assume he must have grabbed the first ones he saw.
Is it so much to expect someone who has known me for over 30 years to know what I like?
I would have been happy with a bunch of daffs or even weeds from the garden
I got a mixed bouquet of some chrysanths (some dyed a lovely sky blue), a pink rose and a bit of goldenrod that looks as if it's been dipped in pink paint. DD1 chose them herself and proclaimed they were the best flowers in the whole shop. Needless to say I am delighted that she chose the best ones just for me

Lillies - they remind me of Triffids <shakes fist at BBC2 'Day of the Triffids' which fecking terrified me as a kid>; even if I get past the Triffidness of them then they just remind me of funerals.
I like flowers that come arranged/hand tied in the plastic water bowl thingy - I hate the faff of unwrapping them, cutting them, having to find a bloody vase and then arranging them and remembering to water them etc.
DH and DS came through like superstars today - a bottle of Cognac and no flowers
Daffodils, chrysanthemums, carnations....I'm another tulip fan though. Generally I like something that doesn't look like it came from a forecourt or old lady's house, even a plant for the garden like a fern would be better than the flowers mentioned.
RocknRoll very impressed at the bottle of cognac!
Excellent!
We all went into town yesterday with the intention of me getting a free pass at the florists, but I ended up buying a £3 pot of muscari and a beginners knitting book! Happy Tiddly.

I got a little bunch of daffs and some green stuff - the church hand them out to all the children to give to their mums. But as I'm not keen on cut flowers I don't mind.
DD (13) made me a beautiful owl from Fimo. I'm so proud of her, and I've put a pic of it on my profile!
Lavender- can't flipping stand it.
Red & White flowers because I'm vair vair superstitious

Anything dyed just keels.
Limonioum smells like cat piss.
There's nothing like the smell of gone off alium. Its a heady mix of warm onions, ripe cheese and vomit.
I am allergic to lilies but love daffs and freesias.
My favourite buch would combine daffs and white tulips with a few freesia for the scent.

Carnations - ugly, scent less and the flower of choice for tight wads
Would rather have no flowers than get carnations; they just scream "I grabbed these at the petrol station/check out"
Jux the owl is gorgeous! Well done your DD.
IAmNotAMindReader Yy! Stinky bloody things alliums, gorgeous when planted but revolting when slowly decomposing in a vase... Urgh.
