Tell me if this could this go horribly wrong?

Have been a lurker for a while, but first time poster so bear with me!
OK. I think I am a little bit in love with my brother's best friend (well aware this makes me sound like a teenager - I'm 37 blush)

Basically, had a horrible divorce last year, everything was sorted just before Christmas. Think my family are a bit worried about me as I keep getting invites to see them, so last week travelled all the way to Scotland with DD on my own for the first time to see my brother.
And I don't know if it's because I'm newly single or what, but I just suddenly fell for his best mate (They've been best mates for years - I don't know him too well but the fact that he is my brother's best friend means he is automatically lovely!) SIL in law tells me that he's always had a thing for me, he was really attentive all the time we were there.

We're going back up at Easter, and my friends are telling me to go for it, but all I can think of is what would happen if it went wrong, would it ruin the relationship with my brother. Just in such a quandary. confused

And thinking also that at 37 I should not get crushes on my big brother's friends

Take it one day at a time - who knows? You're never too old for love and romance!

Oooh, how lovely. Would this be a long distance thing?

kniftyknitter Thu 07-Mar-13 20:43:55

Yes Mrs - quite a long distance tbh. But then - it may never happen anyway smile crossingfingersandtoes
Deliberately didn't mention him to my brother when we spoke on the phone tonight!

Oooh a Spring Romance! How excellent. Fingers crossed for you OP, sounds like you could use a lovely bit of fun and attention smile

smile how lovely.

Did you actually make the card?!

kniftyknitter Thu 07-Mar-13 21:30:39

I did make the card all by myself - but I always make cards for friends and family smile My hobbies are the same as one of my elderly neighbour's - I knit and crochet lots too! blush

Well done knifty. Your bravery has inspired me to contact a guy that I met on a dating site 16 months ago. I started a thread on here this evening, asking it it was a v bad idea and everyone has encouraged me to send him a message.

I called things off after 3 dates because I let a close (male) friend, persuade me he wouldn't be right for me. Afterwards I felt very stupid for letting myself be manipulated by him, and really regretted calling things quits with the guy on the site. I replied on your thread that you have nothing to lose, and it made me thing, maybe I wouldn't either. Though the situation is v different.

So good luck to you and thanks for helping me make a decision too.

Oohh, good on you bulletproof, have you emailed him. I feel much better for having done something, even if nothing happens, at least I won't think 'what if' all the time!
Good luck, you must let us know how it goes! thanks

bulletproofgerbil Thu 07-Mar-13 21:57:30

Thanks knifty. No I've not emailed yet. Am going to do it tomorrow because I think I might not get to sleep if I do it tonight because I'll be constantly checking to see if there's a reply smile Let us know how yours goes too smile

any update?? x

bulletproofgerbil Sun 10-Mar-13 12:16:46

I hope you hear something soon knifty. I'm emailing dating site guy tonight. Didn't want to do it Fri or Sat in case it came over as too needy/desperate. And didn't want to be fretting over the weekend either.

Oh my goodness - he texted me!
He said thank you for the card, and that he was looking forward to seeing me at Easter too, and how about we did dinner when I'm up there.
grin grin grin Just doing a little jig around the room!

Do you think he meant just you two for dinner? Would hate for you to get excited if he meant everyonesad
But he texted you to say thanks instead of ignoring you! I'm so pleased for you. x

Jaynebxl Mon 11-Mar-13 18:31:30
