Come and be nice and calm my nerves and give me a kick up the bum.

I have an interview tomorrow. Every time I think about it, I feel sick.

I have to travel 23 miles to the nearest train station, then get a train to where the interview is.

I don't drive. DP has booked the day off to drive me to the station and take care of the DC after school.

DP has had his hand smashed playing rugby yesterday. Been to the local MIU and he has to go back tomorrow to have it x-rayed (no x-ray staff on duty at weekends). They have decided it will wait until then, rather than have to drive to the hospital in the same town as the train station.

I will now have to catch the bus to that town tomorrow.

I bought myself some nice clothes to wear and now cannot find them.

I also cannot find the file where all the paperwork is kept and I am meant to take some for of ID. My driving licence (learner one) has disappeared from my purse and now I am unable to find my birth cert.

It seems my untidyness everything is concpiring against me, and I think the inteview, or more 'selection event' is doomed. I won't get in to uni, I will never be a qualified nurse.

Ah stay calm. You still have plenty of time to find all your lost stuff. It's a pain about your parent's hane though. Do you mean he won't be able to drive you to the station. Does the bus go all the way or bus and train. Find all your stuff today and then make sure you have planned your route. Good luck.

MammaTJ Sun 03-Mar-13 10:22:59

Bus, then train. Meeting a friend at the other end. Plan on getting there are hour before time, to allow for delays. He goes to the uni, so will hopefully take me right there.

Then on return journey, train, then a friend finishes her shift near the time I arrive, she works in same town as station, so will bring me home.

Stressing about money too. If DP has broken anything, that will mean time off work. Rugby insurance pays £11 a day, SSP too, but that won't make his wages and we are struggling as it is.

Breathe slowly then go and look in that 'safe place' for your ID and the ironing pile for your clothes. Then wine brew and an early night. Good luck for tomorrow.

It'll be ok, Mamma. smile

Have some back-up clothes ready and as soon as you've sorted that out, you'll find the original set.wink

You've already got the back-up plan for the travel arrangements, so you're okay there.

If DH's hand is badly hurt, you'll cope because you have to. But he'll probably take more care in the future because he knows what an idiot he's been this time (though, obviously with rugby, you can't completely blame him or he'd have to give it up and that would be sad).

It's fantastic that you've got friends either end helping out. That shows what a fabulous person you are - which means you'll sail through the selection process with flying colours and wow everyone on the course with your charm and general loveliness...

HTH!

MrsWembley Sun 03-Mar-13 10:51:07

Sorry, DP.

And your paperwork will turn up when you empty your mind of everything else and concentrate on the last time you saw each bit you need.

babyheave Sun 03-Mar-13 10:57:14

Take a deep breath.

Think about what you've organised already. You know which bus you need to catch and when. You know what train you need to get and when. As someone said upthread, get another set of clothes and you are sure to find the first.

If the driving license is a form of ID, do you have another one you can take instead? If not and you can't find it, you can explain that you don't have it and you'd be happy to send a copy onto them once you have a replacement.

Lastly, I am sure you will do well. Show passion for what you are applying for and it will shine though.

I have found my trousers and jacket. I still can't find the blouse I bought but have found a wonderful alternative. A Black square necked fine knit jumper, with white stripes around the neckline, very smart, so am happy about clothes. Going to dust off the iron and iron them in a mo.

What you say about ID makes sense, although for CRB, which I will need, they need to see the original in person. I can sort that though.

exiledmancityfan Sun 03-Mar-13 11:14:17

What about a passport if you have one.

MammaTJ Sun 03-Mar-13 11:21:15

I don't have one. Being born abroad makes getting one complicated and I haven't travelled for years, so no point. Anyway, if I had one, it would be in the big white folder that we cannot find.

MrsWembley Sun 03-Mar-13 12:38:54

Close your eyes and fill your mind with an image of the big, white folder, then make that image grow smaller and have a quick peak at the surroundings.

Ok, where is it?

MammaTJ Sun 03-Mar-13 14:15:32

Tried that and still can't find it. Really feeling panicked now.

babyheave Sun 03-Mar-13 16:33:23

Any luck yet MammaTJ?

MammaTJ Sun 03-Mar-13 19:06:30

NOPE!! I have kind of given up! Well for now. There is one corner of the living room which is a bot of a dumping ground, once the DC are in bed, I am going to pull everything out.

I really don't know why I am putting myself through the stress. I am 45, I shall be 46 when I start uni. I am so nervous, I am shaking. This is the day before, what the hell am I going to be like on the day?

MrsWembley Sun 03-Mar-13 19:34:37

I went back as a mature student, twice!

YY, you'll be incredibly nervous the first day, then, within say half an hour, you'll realise that all your life experiences mean you know soooooo much more than the children around you and that will make you sooooooo much more confident than them, which in turn will rub off on them and they will start to see you as a kind of role model, someone to be admired and respected.

(Just don't let them see you drinkwink)

MammaTJ Sun 03-Mar-13 20:32:23

grin MrsWembley, do we know each other in RL?

You have me spot on. My references are amazing. I would say I don't recognise the person they are talking about, but it is all true. <trying to get in the mode of bigging myself up>

My personal statement was pretty fab too.

I do have a lot of experience. Actually, if I get taken on and do become a student nurse, for the next three years I will not be allowed to do some of the things I do now as a care assistant. I give out drugs on my own, including controlled drugs. I will not be allowed to even check them as a student nurse.

babyheave Sun 03-Mar-13 20:44:14

Sending you lots and lots of positive vibes for tomorrow.

MammaTJ Sun 03-Mar-13 21:02:37

Thank you. I was going to say I have never been this scared in my life, but I have been more scared just the once. I thought my DD2 was going to die, shortly after birth, she was very ill. She came through it, she survived and is now 7 and doing well. I will survive too, I must remember that!!

exiledmancityfan Mon 04-Mar-13 08:59:21

Good luck for today mamma sending positive and keep calm vibes grin

MammaTJ Mon 04-Mar-13 22:04:28

Thanks. I feel it went well.

MrsWembley Tue 05-Mar-13 01:58:30

Good!

Told you so - ner ner ne ner ner <blows raspberry>

wink

What did you use for ID in the end?

MammaTJ Tue 05-Mar-13 06:44:41

Nothing, they said I can send it on later. There were people there without their second reference, which I think at this stage is more important.

babyheave Tue 05-Mar-13 11:00:31

So please it went well smile

MammaTJ Wed 06-Mar-13 17:40:56

OMG!! I cannot believe it. I know I thought it went well, but they told us not to expect to hear until another two months time.

I just logged on to tracking and have a conditional offer. I know I am going to pass my access, so I'm in!!!! YAY!!
