Did they put a bump note in her bag?

MrsMushroom Sat 02-Mar-13 10:16:09

Kid she is fine now...she wasn't yesterday though...she kept saying it was streaming and she did rub it.

Bare...from the sound of it, DD could not open her eye...that's serious I think...I am a bit confused about it really.

We have to fill in a head injury note for any bump, knock, graze or jarring to anywhere above the shoulders. This is sent home. Child also has a head injury sticker too.
And as of last month we have to phone home to inform a parents at the time it occurs too.

may be the teacher didnt think it was serious enough at the time.... blimey....

Yes, the teacher should have told you.
Was that teacher there at hometime? If so, there is no reason why they couldn't have told you.

Does your dd's vision seem ok? Is she rubbing it now?

MrsMushroom Sat 02-Mar-13 09:36:00

No DD says another boy informed the teacher and the teacher came and helped her to put wet tissue on it.

That teacher should have told me....

kid Sat 02-Mar-13 09:25:51

I was going to say that many children help themselves to wet tissue as that is sometimes enough.
Did your dd tell you who she told? It is possible the school do know what happened, but it could have been any member of staff that dealt with it and the class teacher may not be aware.

PenguinBear Sat 02-Mar-13 09:21:56

I would mention Monday to find out what happened etc. I teach Reception and the children frequently self administer wet paper towels for themselves and each other so it is very possible that the staff were not aware and it was a similar situation as described above.

Hope DDs eye is ok!

MrsMushroom Sat 02-Mar-13 09:08:01

They do know what happened...they gave her a tissue.

kid Sat 02-Mar-13 09:04:14

They should have done an accident form if there was a mark on her face.
I wonder if there was no mark when they looked at it but it came up afterwards if her eye was irritated by the tissue or if she kept rubbing it.

I'd mention it to the teacher on Monday just so the school know what happened and so they can make sure accident forms are completed.

flyingcarpet Sat 02-Mar-13 08:58:17

Our school has a standard form they hand out after school for any injuries, so yes I would expect this. If you are worried you could ring an optician to get her eye checked. If you ring 1st thing most of the bigger ones e.gSpecsavers,Boots will have some free appointments today.

They should have told you, usually have to fill in an accident form for things like this. Probably just a slip of the mind though, mention it on Monday smile

DD is 4 in reception. She came out of school happy enough yesteerday....but on the way home she told me that X had swung a "timer on a string" at her as he chased her in a game....it hit her in the eye and she had to sit with a wet tissue on it apparently.

I looked and sure enough the white of her eye was all red...it's still bloodshot today and she says it was "leaking in the night".

No teacher mentioned it to me...am I being fussy? Shouldn't they have told me and should I mention it on monday.
