Ha ha! Reread this thread fish and lilacs - "I think you should get a voucher to have her hair done. . ." "that won't be much use to her because her husband works at a horticulture college". Think you should go back to bed for a bit!
Anyway, the first thing that popped into my head was some kind of reclaimed wood furniture - ideally a garden bench but think they're more expensive than that. Or maybe a bird bath? Second thought is if you could buy her a voucher for some kind of day out related to her interests. that's a bit vague but if she has lots of stuff she might prefer a time present to another object.

Thats a nice idea, but it wont be much use to her as her dh works at the local horticultural college. They get free plants all the time, plus they are moving house.

One of the nicest presents I got for my 40th was a voucher for the hairdresser and beautician I go to, it was so appreciated as with three young DC'S very rarely have the time and spare cash to go treat myself, it also came with free babysitting to allow me to go. Hairdresser costs more now to cover up the grey in my long blonde hippy hair so excellent present and also got facial as well.

I'm that age as well and sound a bit like your friend, love my garden. What about a voucher for a local garden centre. Plants etc are really expensive, I'd find that a really special present from my friends as they knew it was my hobby.

for a lentil weavery friend. She has lots of jewellery and clothes, she loves plants and flowers and gardening, she keeps bees, she likes objects but has quite a few, but would probably appreciate something beautiful and meaningful as well.

This is a gift from a group of people budget between £80-120
