We used to wash out hands with a bar of soap up stairs (same bar to wash your face and body, one bar for the whole family) and with washing up liquid downstairs.
Now, we have hand wash, body wash, face wash, washing up liquid and a bar of soap, and we all have our individual washes, including the children.
When I was a child, there were now chocolate advent calenders that I knew of. (Although my bff says there were. He says he always bad chocolate ones(?))
Im 30.

Any old bar of soap in bathroom plus Matey bubbles sometimes. We didn't have a shower, so 'shower gel' a foreign concept. Can't remember washing my hands in the kitchen, we lived in a flat so not a long walk to bathroom, but probably bar of soap or washing up liquid there - my mum still doesn't have liquid hand soap etc
When I was about 9 my mum discovered that she loved Floris soap, which was expensive - so she had a bar of that in the bathroom but it was not for my usage! About this time we used to get Timotei shampoo occasionally, which seemed v exotic!
A few of my friends got chocolate advent calendars. I didn't, but didn't mind anyway because the pictures on the choc ones were really boring & the choc tasted yucky.
