The classic - lots of cream cheese, smoked salmon, cracked black pepper and a squeeze of lemon. Or, substitute the cream cheese for humus.

catinboots is right, the best bagels ever come from Beigel Bake on Brick Lane. I've been going there since I was a kid.

Like the Jew I am, I love hot salt beef but also lox (smoked salmon) and cream cheese. Divine.

Follow with cheesecake.
