I like mine with cream cheese and crispy bacon.
DH likes cream cheese with cucumber.
At uni we used to make pizzas with them, tomato purée, grated cheese then grill. Also nice with cheese and chutney.
Smoked salmon, cream cheese and capers.
Cream cheese, crispy bacon and tomato
Cream cheese, smoked salmon and watercress
Peanut butter and strawberry jam
Boursin and crispy streaky bacon <drools>
I see Kidnap's lunch suggestion & raise it to include rocket leaves; also smoked cheese (Applewood, preferably) and chilli mayonnaise. Bagel of the Gods.
For breakfast: jam & peanut butter. Divine.

Trinity I agree about a normal fresh bagel but a bagel toasted and warm is instantly amazingly delicious
I admit I have never tried it toasted
Cream cheese and smoked salmon every time!!
I don't eat bread and really miss a bagel!

Great suggestions, I only have cheese (cheddar or cream) with jam, preferably strawberry, to add. And yes, bagels must always be split and toasted unless they are warm and freshly baked from a Jewish bakery deli. On a similar vibe pitta bread must always be toasted too <gavel>

Defo toast it and then put a bit of butter and a sprinkle of ground cinnamon and some sugar. Or cream cheese and bacon - yum
