You know that urge to do so something silly but stop yourself?

(166 Posts)

I've had a few lately.

Today on the bus, had to stop myself rubbing the man in front of me's head. I was very short shaven and looked very rubable.

I also have this overwhelming one to smash my ipad in half over my knee to see if it will indeed break in half.

Used to get them when younger where I'd want to put my foot over a moving car/bicycle wheel to see if it would hurt, never did it though.

Anyone else get these urges?

I dream about getting all the Lego in our house putting it into a big pile and melting it into one solid lump!

We had to tidy our house when visitors came a few days ago. It's now too tidy. I want to move things around & find some random bits of paper to put in a pile in an inappropriate place. DH would not be impressed! Maybe the postman will come soon & I can 'accidentally' open the post & leave it on the sofa. grin

My sister in law told me, when we first met, that as a child she'd once been sat next to her nanna watching telly. For some reason the thought of punching her nanna in the boobs entered her head and wouldnt leave.

Apparently she had to sit on her hands all evening to stop herself punching her nanna in the tit.

We bonded that day

Thank you for this thread, both for making me chuckle at the one armed bandit car grin and for making me realise that I'm not completely insane!

My urges mostly surround my dds, particularly as babies. I think it's because they trust me completely, and I am completely responsible for them. I have had moments of real fear that I will get the urge to really hurt one of them, usually involving heights - carrying them on the stairs and around the outside decks of a ferry have at times terrified me, just for a horrific heartstopping second before I tell myself not to be so ridiculous. I've always been to scared to vocalise these thoughts before and I'm so very glad that I'm not the only one.

I also have stupid urges - I once stabbed a brand new packet of butter on the dinner table in front of my mum, she looked at me a bit like this hmm but it looked so perfect sitting there in front of me grin, and when I'm driving I sometimes wonder what would happen if I just close my eyes for a few seconds, obviously I've never done that one grin

Lula that reminds me of my sister once admitting that when we were little she always wanted to bite DMum's nipple when she was BFing the baby!

I went through a stage of wanting to bite exDP. He wasn't a nobber then, so I had no reason to want to bite him. We'd just be lying in bed and I would ave this urge to sink my teeth in to his jugular.

Nowhere else, just his throat. I kept imagining how juicy it would feel in my teeth...

I didn't though.

Ooh I also get the driving one! Where I'm driving along and I think - I wonder what it would be like just to close my eyes? Or have the urge to drive off the road or drive straight on when there's a corner etc.
I thought it wa just me!

On a family skiing holiday as a teenager (our one and only), I was halfway up a double ski lift with my sister, one of the type where you have a bar under your bottom pulling you forward with your skis on the ground, and there were lots of signs instructing skiers to keep their skis parallel and most importantly never cross them.

I suddenly found myself upside down in the snow with skis several metres away. My sister was similarly discombobulated and looked a bit sheepish. She said, "I just wanted to see what would happen if I crossed my skis".

We then had to trudge through waist-height snow to ski down the nearest run (which turned out to be red).

Anyone had the urge to open the plane emergency door mid-flight??

Don't fly with me!

Dancer ! grin tge most murderous poster!

Thought of another one. When I'm making a hot drink and someone comes in the kitchen I really want to put the hot spoon on their skin.

Totally Dancer, and I think someone else said the same upthread.

My worst is thinking I could drive my car into people. Never would and in fact it's a fear of mine but just for a second I think I could. I had it with a woman with a buggy the other day. Shudder.

I often wonder what would happen if I didn't brake in the car or just had a crash to see what would happen confused.
When I get bad period cramps I have massive urges to cut open my stomach and pull all my inards out - cos that wouldn't be painful hmm
