You know that urge to do so something silly but stop yourself?

I've had a few lately.

Today on the bus, had to stop myself rubbing the man in front of me's head. I was very short shaven and looked very rubable.

I also have this overwhelming one to smash my ipad in half over my knee to see if it will indeed break in half.

Used to get them when younger where I'd want to put my foot over a moving car/bicycle wheel to see if it would hurt, never did it though.

Anyone else get these urges?

I always touch things when signs say the paints wet. I have no idea why but when I see that sign I have to check.

I always want to rub bald men's heads too! I want to see if its as smooth as it looks.

I also had to stop my self fucking in peoples tags and sorting out hoods on randomers in the street!

Fucking in peoples tags shockgrin

OnceUponAThyme Wed 27-Feb-13 16:19:06

I've never fucked someone's tag before wink grin

but I often want to push down on things to see if they'd break or jump into busy roads. not done it though.

Oo er SP. You'll get yourself locked up fucking people's tags.

I fucked in someone's tag once.....

It was a mistake. <says no more>

I have these, usually involving violence even though I'm not a violent person. Things like 'what would happen if I threw this coffee over someone', and not people I dislike, I think I just like to imagine the chaos.

Ooh there was a big thread about this a couple of years ago and it was interesting to hear about all our strange urges.

My most common one its feeling like I might throw my car keys or phone into the river I cross after leaving work..almost every day I get this.

I get this - urges to punch lovely people in the face, inapprorpriate thoughts, i often used to have to look away from my supervisor in meetings as he had loads of ginger hair poking out of his shirt and I had to stop myself from staring at his crotch and wondering if he had ginger pubes hmm also the urge to cup mens balls.

I'm scared of going to high places, not because I get vertigo or I'm scared of heights, but I always think I'll step out too far....

I get urges to squeeze people's big whitehead spots.

Yrs leonard I remember.that too and before I read your post.

I was in Wales last month and stopped tbe car in the layby to just stand and gaze at the breath taking beauty of the land.

I had this daft urge to throw my car keys down the mountain!

Dumb

When DS2 used to have really short hair (Grade 2) one of his little friends obviously could not resist the urge and did rub his head. It was very sweet. Not sure it would work with grown-ups though. Resist.

I get the urge to throw my glasses off of high places hmm Usually in shopping centres, when you go upstairs and can look down to the lower levels. Thankfully I've always managed to stop myself!

My mother does not like to walk in front of the television set with a hammer in her hand, as she has an urge to smash the screen violently.

You would not think that walking past the telly with a hammer at the age of 79 is a common occurrence, but she is very keen on DIY and has singled-handedly converted the loft into an art studio. She also has a thing about jumping down onto the tracks at a railway station - in an area with a live third rail.

No tag-fucking though, as far as I'm aware. Or fag-tucking.

My only vice is untwisting people's swimming costume straps. I cannot bear a twisty strap. angry

grin Talc.

Just thought of one more. When the cats are washing with their leg in the air, I always want to pull it down and make a 'kerching!' noise like it's a casino machine hmm Again, I've never actually done it!

Whenever I stand on my balcony, I get the urge to jump off. I'll do it one day, I'm sure. I'll feel very silly, though, explaining to people why my legs are in plaster grin

Love this post! I have a kind of silent tourettes where I get the urge to shout obscenities for eg. in the middle of a school meeting or whilst waiting somewhere quiet like drs surgery.

I always get a huge urge to lick the dentist's fingers when he's got his hands in my mouth! I really want to know the feel and taste of his gloves grin

I'm pleased I only have to fight the urge every 6 months grin

I used to have the urge to push people in front of the bus when I was standing in the queue. I'm not a violent or aggressive person and it was nothing against the people, stranger or friend it made no difference grin. I haven't used public transport for years so don't know if the urge would still be there but was very strong in my teens and early 20s. Thankfully never acted on it.

I also have the urge to bite people shock. It once was very strong whilst on a bus and the person standing next to me was holding on to the back of the seat in front of mine. The urge to bite his arm was overwhelming but I managed not to do it. Actually looking at this it's probably just as well I don't use public transport any more grin. My friend's puppy gnawed my hand last week , it didn't hurt at all but it made me think that's exactly what I want to do too grin

We have to walk over a footbridge with a busy road beneath it to get into town. I always worry I'll throw dd2 off the bridge. I haven't yet thankfully.

shallweshop Wed 27-Feb-13 16:43:25

Greatgretzsky - just burst out laughing during my DS's swimming lesson at your casino cat comment!!

shallweshop Wed 27-Feb-13 16:44:50

Oh yes, throwing children off footbridges is another one but wasn't going to own up to that one!!!

Unlurked Wed 27-Feb-13 16:45:42

Just to be clear, I only worry about throwing dd2 because she's small and likes to be carried so is often in my arms when we cross the bridge. Not because I like dd1 more than dd2. Because that would make me a bad mother obvs.
