Mine is on 18 and I feel a bit chilly soon after it turns off...

My parents house is on about 1000C and is stifling!

scurryfunge Wed 27-Feb-13 00:34:17

Mine is on 20 but DH keeps turning it down.

I'm on an economy drive so it's on 18 and we huddle under fleece blankets.

16/17 here, I'd rather put a jersey on than turn it up

17.5 but goes off over night unless it drops below 14

Its not grin

I have a lovely toasty wood stove, best thing I ever spent money on
Paid for itself after 2 winters ( oil heat )

17 during the day when ds and I are in, then up to 18 in the evening until bed when it only kicks on if the temp drops to below 14.

Lewisfan Wed 27-Feb-13 01:04:11

how do you get it to do that? I mean come on if it goes below 14...

I can only switch mine on to whatever temp I want, then it comes on / stays on at that temperature. It's very annoying

Mine's on about 26. It's fecking freezing lately! I'm aware I'm in the UK and not Siberia

MirandaWest Wed 27-Feb-13 01:16:37

My thermostat is at 7 at the moment (actual temp probably about 12). In the day it's at 14 a d goes up to 16 in late afternoon. Need to cut back a bit as fuel bill just gone up (will see soon how it's been for this month when I submit my reading).

Ours comes on for an hour or so in a morning when DP is getting up and ready for work. He has it on 19 I think. Then we have it on for a bit in the evening when we have a bath/shower. I don't put it on during the day unless it's really freezing and I only put it up to 17 or 18 just to warm the place through. When we had our central heating done the electrician set our thermostat to 22 and I was roasting! It took me ages to figure out how to change it.

Finally got my Mother ot turn hers down to 18 (I'm staying with her for a bit) noone has noticed that I am aware off.

Both her and my MIL came out with something along the lines of the WHO has said it should not go below 22

(so we know who to blame for global warming)

the thermostat says 28C but the heating is broken and the actual temperature of the room is around 12C On the rare moment the damn heating works the thermostat gets turned down sharpish

knackeredmother Wed 27-Feb-13 01:53:03

18-20 depending on how cold we are. I have chold ten who like to run around naked a lot, so often even higher.

Sugarice Wed 27-Feb-13 07:26:29

Ours is set to 18 and will kick in automatically if the temp drops below 11.

18 when we're all at home.
16 when it's just me at home.
14 at night.

We have a thermostat that you can set for different temperatures at different times of day.

Another one with a woodburner here. Which heats all of our radiators when it has a mind to

It's warm in the DC's rooms, warm in front of the fire, a bit nippy in my room and I think I saw penguins in the kitchen last night it's so Arctic in there.

MirandaWest Wed 27-Feb-13 07:53:17

<wonders if it is bad to point out the penguins would probably be in the Antarctic and quickly wanders off>

EnjoyResponsibly Wed 27-Feb-13 08:05:32

20

I saw penguins on a beach in South Africa confused

ours is set around 19°C but is on a timer so not on all day. It goes off around 10pm and doesnt go back on until 6am so is off overnight. I find it cold when it drops below 18°C but try not to boost the heating once it goes off around 10am (goes back on around 5pm until 10pm)

BinksToEnlightenment Wed 27-Feb-13 08:13:01

It's on 18 all the time unless we're out. But because some idiot put the thermostat in the most freezing cold corner of the house it's probably more like 20.

ThreeWheelsGood Wed 27-Feb-13 08:15:29

19 C, we're just switching it on when we need it.

18-20 is ideal room temperature. If I were on my own I'd just wear more layers but we have a little baby so trying to keep it around that temperature!

DukeSilver Wed 27-Feb-13 08:15:35

Currently its not on at all. I just popped into the kitchen to get a drink and it was 13 degrees. I ran out pretty sharpish and jumped back into bed grin

I don't have the joys of central heating though, just electric radiators that I put on when i feel the need.
