Dd2 has made it easy because she's chosen little red ridinghood but dd1 school has sticks theme on! angry

The theme is space shock

Help me think of ideas. So far a star, an alien and space person has been turned down. Just to make it worse, staff have to dress up too and I'm staff confused
Help!!

Feel free to add your own worries too.

Roald Dahl here. hmm That's the theme.

I have said no to DS's Oompa Loompa orange facepaint idea, and a Fox Mask and tail has been ordered.

CockBollocks Tue 26-Feb-13 17:13:54

A star? Must have one floating around from a xmas play!!

AuntLucyInPeru Tue 26-Feb-13 17:14:30

Obiwankanobe (sp?) In a big hessian sack thing?

CockBollocks Tue 26-Feb-13 17:15:25

I did mugglewump for Roahl Dahl week:

brown polo, brown tights, tail made from a sewn-on stuffed brown pop sock, brown paper ears Sellotaped to a headband, brown face make up.

Good luck!

i wish we had been given a theme. this is my first 'world book day' dressing up and have not a clue what to do. DS wants to dress up as buzz lightyear or darth vader (neither of which we have and not entirely sure that they are books either DS, they are films). have tried to persuade him to be charlie bucket (thereby just needing me to cut out a ticket from gold card) but no! does this kind of hell go on every year? then the week after we have comic relief day to contend with too shock. no-one warned me about this when deciding to have children!!!

shelley72 Tue 26-Feb-13 17:19:01

film characters even. gosh i am so traumatised i can't even write properly!

Sparklingbrook Tue 26-Feb-13 17:20:26

They should definitely do it in ante-natal classes shelley

1. Signs of labour
2. Giving birth
3.Establish feeding routine
4. Make an outfit for World Book Day

grin

gazzalw Tue 26-Feb-13 17:20:57

Something to do with Dr Who????

moogalicious Tue 26-Feb-13 17:21:53

Own clothes and say they're horrid henry/hermione granger/harry potter (with drawn on glasses and scar)

Boring I know but with 3 dc's I have had my fill of bloody dress up days angry

moogalicious Tue 26-Feb-13 17:23:13

Or just raid the dressing up box and match the outfit to a random book.

ChallyCreaks Tue 26-Feb-13 17:23:15

Dd has to be a book character who has travelled around the world. She is 6. I hate world book day. confused

Shesparkles Tue 26-Feb-13 17:23:32

Mine have to do Harry Potter. That'll be ds wearing dh's old glasses with the lenses popped out, scar drawn on forehead and normal clothes. Voila Harry Potter at the weekend grin

lisad123everybodydancenow Tue 26-Feb-13 17:25:29

What about philleous fog lol

Glad I'm not the only one with this problem.

Sparklingbrook Tue 26-Feb-13 17:26:12

I always say I am sending him as The Invisible Man and give him the day off. grin

noisytoys Tue 26-Feb-13 17:27:04

DD is going to be a Rainbow Fairy she is still 4 so loves them smile

Clawdy Tue 26-Feb-13 17:29:10

As long as no-one sends their small boy in a pair of striped pyjamas like someone did at our school last year shock They can't possibly have read the book.....

EstherRancid Tue 26-Feb-13 17:30:31

this is our very first WBD

DD is going as Lola from the Charlie and Lola stories - i win!

lookingforbaubles Tue 26-Feb-13 17:30:51

dd3 has decided to be Emily from the book Hollow Earth

we asked Carole Barrowman on twitter what Emily would look like

blue jeans, t shirt and purple streak in her hair grin

PrettyPirate Tue 26-Feb-13 17:36:31

DD can't decide- wants to go as Pippi Longstocking, she loved that book. Or Clarice Bean. She might choose Rainbow fairies in the end...
DS loves Aliens love underpants, he's nearly 4, and wants to go as one with underpants on his head. He's still at nursery.

BalloonSlayer Tue 26-Feb-13 17:39:08

For the one who has to be someone who has been round the world, what about Where's wally?

Space person - gun, black trousers and waistcoat, long-sleeved t-shirt - Han Solo.

belindarose Tue 26-Feb-13 17:39:58

DD is 3 and insisting on Madeline. I'm not sure anyone will know who she is. I'm going for a pinafore, big hair ribbon and a straw hat (if I can find one).

BalloonSlayer Tue 26-Feb-13 17:40:32

Oh sorry, she's a girl. Could do Princess Leia if she has long hair - 2 sock buns at either side, and wrapped in a sheet.
