40+3 with dc2. Terrible bhs the last few weeks coupled with a very unhappy stomach due to iron tablets. Been in pain on and off since 37 weeks basically. Bloody show this morning. Sent dh out with ds, had one pretty nasty pain but reserved judgement due to the aforementioned weeks of pain. Since 11 have been having short but suspiciously contraction like pains every 20 mins or so. Seriously pissed off. Is this it or not??? I wish it would either all stop so i can forget about it for the time being or it would ramp up so i can get this baby out!! Aghhh!

Possibly not what you want to hear but can you manage a bath? When I was in suspected labour the midwife told me a bath would probably stop it if it was a false start.

If you just want tea and sympathy then I can do that too brew

FarleyD Mon 25-Feb-13 16:09:24

Poor you. What's "terrible bhs" (other than a crappy department store?). Can you ring your midwife for advice? I would keep Dh close to home tonight too, just in case. Good luck.

Tea and sympathy always welcome calpol thanks. Had a bath earlier and the contractions are still coming so that's good i suppose. I am so bloody envious of people who say "i woke up in labour." i had a long slow start with ds too and it was torture.

Terrible braxton hicks farley. Really strong uncomfortable tightenings all day long that do absolutely nothing. Easily one of the most annoying things in existence. Poor dh is on tenterhooks while trying to look after a very lively ds.

Good Luck CailinDana. I am sure you havent got long now. Hang in there. Let us know if it is a cailin or buachaill wink

CailinDana Mon 25-Feb-13 16:19:09

Thanks bally :-)

FarleyD Mon 25-Feb-13 16:20:25

Oh of course, sorry. Couldn't get past British Home Stores. Are you still getting them? This late in the pregnancy strong chance they could be the real thing I think?

Are you sure you're not in labour? I complained of the same with dc2. Pains mild and irregular. I finished my dinner and thought I'd do the two paracetamol and bath thing to speed things up. It workedgrin Waters went as i got in the bath and she was born within 20 mins. DC 1 had taken 3 days so it wasn't quite what I'd expectedgrin

cakesonatrain Mon 25-Feb-13 16:29:54

Sounds quite labour-ish to me.

CailinDana Mon 25-Feb-13 16:32:07

I honestly have no idea spiffy, that's what's driving me nuts! I'd love it if the same thing happened to me although i bet it was a bit of a shock!

Sounds labourish to me, good luck smile I woke up in labour both times, sorry blush

CailinDana Mon 25-Feb-13 16:38:49

Just had quite a vicious one.

CailinDana Mon 25-Feb-13 16:42:07

Sent dh out for maccy d's :-)

BreadForMyBREADGUN Mon 25-Feb-13 16:46:40

Hopefully all these twinges have got things going a bit. I had similar for a while before I actually went in to labour and I was quite far along by the time the propercontractions kicked in.

seriously I'd get checked or if you are not squeamish see if you have dilated yourself

Dd's birth was utterly amazing for me. I went into shock but one that was over i felt like i could do anything. dh however had nightmares for ages afterwards.

The paramedic arrived in tine but even he didn't realise how far on I was and I had to point out her head was out.hmm

Labours are not the same each time so it's highly likely those contractions are actually doing something...

Manchesterhistorygirl Mon 25-Feb-13 16:49:01

If it makes you feel better I woke up in labour and 19 hours later still no baby. Little bugger wouldn't come out so came out the sunroof. He was 40+12! shock

Good luck OP I hope your new squishy bundle arrives very soon.

CailinDana Mon 25-Feb-13 16:50:28

I tried checking earlier but couldn't reach!

MrsDeVere Mon 25-Feb-13 16:56:17

Sounds like you are on your way.
I am always spectacularly pissed off when I am in early labour so the fact you are really grumpy is a good sign grin

How exciting!

Tee2072 Mon 25-Feb-13 16:59:23

OOhh live labour thread!

Sending "come out baby" vibes.

Will keep my fingers crossed that you are 1) in labour and 2) get a mw or to hospital in time grin

CailinDana Mon 25-Feb-13 17:05:24

Hoping for a home birth - should i ring and give the the mw a heads up? Or is it too early?

sadlovedgirl Mon 25-Feb-13 17:06:03

Oooo good luck OP

shamelessly marks place

My old gp used refer to bhs as contractions... Quite disconcerting when you're getting them at 20 weeks!

Sounds like you're getting the real deal now.... My first two were like that, my third I woke up in full fledged labour and barely made it to hospital!

Good luck!

HorribleMother Mon 25-Feb-13 17:07:39

Sounds like real deal to me, OP.
