Any adult eczema experts care to take a guess on what's going on with my poor DH's skin?

(53 Posts)

My poor DH has suffered with terrible eczema his whole life and has regular flare-ups that leave him miserable and stressed. He tries to avoid the triggers we're aware of (some dogs, dust, stress) as far as possible, but he's sensitive to some other things we can't pin down and so still has several bad episodes a year. He's done a lot of damage to his skin and has permanent, large marks/scars on his face and torso.

Last week he suddenly came up in a rash, hundreds of small raised bumps concentrated on his torso but with some on his arms and legs too. They're itchy and he's scratching himself to bits at night. The GP has prescribed antihistamines and Zerobase as DH has a long history of steroid use and it's damaged his skin. GP thought it was just a flare up, but it's like nothing we've ever seen before. Been a week now and it's not improving, it's horrible seeing him miserable sad.

Could be, caffeine, although it is intolerably itchy apparently.

Thanks Pacific - things definitely moving here! On the ball having contractions every seven minutes or so (finally, technically I should be at the hospital by now with the waters going but no contractions) and predicting a new arrival by tomorrow morning smile.

Fuck me, I'm scared about doing this again!

Dd1 had this it was very itchy and hot to touch at first but she has exczema as well so any skin rash is exacerbated . If it is that it can last weeks I'm afraid and up to three months
