Thats it really would be v greatful. She's old, I just want her to be back on her feet and enjoying her life.
I think vets like to err on side of caution with smaller animals. Given her age and the fact she's a rabbit I expect they want to be doubly sure before they release her. The stress of trips back and fourth for pain killer jabs and dressing changes out weigh the benefits of her being home right now. She's still eating which is a good sign.can u visit her?
How is she today?
Picked her up tonight. They don't think she's doing very well as now other leg isn't working properly. They kept her in to try to get the other leg working and they haven't managed. They think its her age and something more like nerves . The leg that was operated on is healing well apparently but it's the other with the problem now. She's eating though Etc. he mentioned the words pts so I'm very sad and don't know how to get the leg going. We are seeing how she gets on at home now but it's not looking good. Any ideas ?
Just love her and spoil her.
nine is a good age for a rabbit and it doesn't sound like another surgery is an option. I'm sorry to hear she's not doing so great
maybe give her some more rest and lots of love and see if her leg improves. theres a small chance it could all be down to stress although doesnt sound likely. If not then it sounds like quality of life will be the concern here. You know her best you will be able to tell of she's happy or whether she's not herself.
It's so hard losing pets you love so dearly but I'm
A firm believe in the fact they know they have been wanted and loved and that they remember their happy life.
I
<hands bedtime bunny a huge pile of curly kale and carrot >
So sorry to hear it is not looking good, been thinking bout you and bunny
. Agree that 9 is an amazing bunny age, she must know how much she is loved too. I would wait and see but be prepared to make horrible decisions
. We are now piggie-less and with all 3 knew when it was time to let them go. I am putting this across really badly, just wanted to say thinking about you and hope Bedtime bunny is enjoying being home and being spoilt x
You have done your best for her Bedtime1 am no expert myself but why not see how she's doing by morning. Even if she is normally good tempered she probably won't take kindly to any handling for too long in her current state. She'll be glad to be home now in familiar surroundings.
How is she today? X <dandelion leaves for bunny>
Thanks for all being so kind,
Bunny was doing better this morning but since lunch I've been worried! I've changed her bedding hope that makes her feel more comfy. Just need to keep changing her. It really doesn't feel good, it goes in cycles one minute up and next down. I think I'm going to take her to vets for pain medication. I don't want to move her but at the same time don't want to leave her overnight if she's in pain . I did have some drops from the vets that they said I could put on her food so tried it on her treats and she didn't eat it. Although maybe she's just full as she has eaten in the night etc
Hardly slept last night. I feel exhausted and think I have some sort of bug so finding it really tough. Trying my best for bun. I'm feeling down myself like numb.
Thanks all
You need to take care of yourself too Bedtime1
try and put your feet up at some point this afternoon.
I rang vets . Managed to get some pain relief down her myself as she took some food from me, it was her favourite. Now I have given her that she doesn't need to go to the vets they said.
Trying to keep her comfy and spoiling her with her favourite foods.
Thanks donkeydontride bicycles I wil try and take some deep breaths and will go and make a cup of tea. Had pain meds myself and it's taken edge off. I try not to sit down too long or I Start over thinking but at same time need to relax.
Fingers crossed for little bun.
Sounds like she's going to be all snuggly x im sorry things r so uncertain but u sound like you are doing all you can for her. She's a very lucky bunny
Poor old bun. And poor you. It's so horrible to see our pets in pain. Really hope she starts to pick up a bit and that the pain eases for her. You look after yourself too
for you both.
i'm really sorry to hear she's not doing so well.
poor wee bunny
Hope bunny is snuggled up and comfy, she is lucky to have you. Thinking of you both with lots of love
How is she ? X
Thinking of you and hoping your pet is recovering, take it easy x
Thanks for asking about bun.
She's had an okay day today, still quite tired, given her painkillers in dropsy her favourite foods. She took them in.
I put her on a puppy training pad earlier so I could change her bedding in her cage and just nipped in the other room to get something, I was only gone a minute and she had run behind her cage. I'm surprised she managed to get behind there so quickly even though she lies on her side a lot, she must be able to move her legs a bit to be able to do that, I'm really not sure just how much damage there is. It made me smile that she could do that.
Shes some food and I've massaged her a little but trying not to disturb her too much.
From one fluffy tailed one to another, best wishes bunny.
Here's hopping you fell better soon.
How is bunny today?
Bunny been a bit quiet today. She's got wise to the painkillers so struggling to give her, her metacam . She had a bit.
The leg that had the stitches she holds up. Don't know what to d really.
big cuddles to bunny sending big bunch of kale x
Hope she recovers soon!!!
Wishing bunny lots of hoppy good vibes. Re metacam, we used to mix it in with ribena or fruit juice for piggies to make it taste better. Hope you are both ok
Thanks. Ive never given bunny fruit juice before. She has a bottle and a little tray where I put water. Should I just fill the tray thing with a bit of fruit juice instead of water?
Update on bun - she's doing okay at the Moment. Shes had a few days off metacam but heard her crunching her teeth a bit yesterday so gave her some on a bit of veg. Luckily she ate some as she was hungry.
She had to go to the vets on Tuesday to check on her stitches. They will be coming out possibly next week as there not ready to be removed yet.
Don't know what the future olds just playing it day by day. We are just in the process of building her a proper indoor run. She was an outdoor bunny before. We have got the c and c cages for indoor run, bought new toys. Probably will be finished over the weekend. I hope this keeps her happy and she can move around in the run.
